It better be pretty spectacular for £44K!!!
May be wrong but didn't think the Exige Cup had more power.
Couldn't see many people paying £44K for the current model plus supercharger. Hopefully it's more radical than that.
Anyone remember that a few months back Lotus officially stated that there definately would be no more powerful versions of the Exige or Elise!!!

Would anyone actually pay £42K for an Exige cup with the standard Toyota engine???
Blimey, I know it's a different type of car but you could get a brand new Tuscan with a 3year warranty for that, or a brand new Boxster S.
I don't think you're actually getting much for your money with the Exige Cup model.
Can't wait to see what this new Exige is like though!
That black Exige Sport one-off looked better than just about anything ever, so maybe some bits have trickled down from that.

They also said that they would only produce Rover-engined cars for the UK market and the 'Yota engine was for the US federalised car

Seems to me this is likely to be the Exige R or alternatively the first public showing of the GT that appeared in the magazine spy-shots a while back. I wouldn't rule out something based on the Sport Exige shown at Autosport International in January.
Mind you, I did read something on the EliseTalk (US) forum where a chap who is developing a turbo kit for the 2zzge mentioned talking to Lotus and they were working on a SC for the next model-year Elise. Could we see an S3 car maybe? Chequebooks at the ready!

Folks, based on the above discussion I went to the Geneva Motor Show (GMS) website to search for anything about a possible Lotus announcement of an S/C Exige S2 or Elise 111R at the show. Here's what Lotus says their GMS stand will feature:

Make of this what you will... Intentional marketing obfuscation to hide real intent or, a genuine hint at what they'll actually present? If the latter, then doesn't necessarily sound like what we're hoping for. Nothing to do now but wait until March 3rd to learn what this statement means.
Regards, Kevin (a hopeful S/C Exige S2 buyer)

The suspense is killing me - just hope it is the much-rumoured retro-fittable s/charger kit. Though £44k is a good 10 grand over an optioned up exige, 14 over a base model. At that price it must be some fairly substantial mods or something else entirely!
Please someone spill the beans!!!
