Well i've just had the exhaust fitted that was advertised on ebay & its bloody loud!!

The quality is great & the guy who fit said that some jiggling around was required to fit.

From tickover to 3500rpm the noise is a nice deep burble with the odd pop & bang etc..

From 3500rpm to 5500rpm the noise is a very loud rasping thunderous burble (not sure of that explaination)

And from 5500rpm to 7000rpm cutout the noise is just a deafening rasp / scream / piercing roar!

I don't mind up to 4000rpm, but after that it is LOUD!!

I have just driven 5 miles back to work & my ears are ringing!!

is this the £200 ebay exhaust that Bogie said was something like 125 dBA?!!?! (i.e. plain ridiculous?). If so, fair play my good man!!! I'm happy with my noise at the moment but I always wanted to have a go of that exhaust!!! Can you get a video or a sound recording of it?!?!

Excellent

Yes thats the one!, it cost me £270 including DHL from Hong Kong, which i thought was reasonable (+ £20 fitting!)

Not sure how to go about getting a video / sound recording onto PH?

If you can get a video of it on your computer (in mpeg form, for example), then go to www.pistonheads.tv and upload it - pistonheads then hosts it for you. All you need to do it tell us it's there!

£270. God it's tempting just to get one for the hell of it!

Where are you based, Mikey?!

I love mine wouldn't change it! Trip to Oxford via a14, M11, M25 etc other day nearly had me reaching for ear plugs. But came back via Milton Keynes instead, roundabouts were great fun

I can see this exhaust going round Elise owners, as each one goes deaf.

A 125db Elise must be quite a sight. The loudest car I've been in was a 126db 355 and that has pedestrians half a mile up the road turning round to see what's coming .

where did you get it fitted? I have just driven round about 4 garages and no one will fit just a back box supplied by me :-(
How easy is it to do it yourself on an S1?

I sold it on ebay to another Elise owner

it was 131dB at 1M at 7000rpm and 101dB at tickover ! ....you get a headache after 10 mins driving it even with earplugs...but it does sound like a real LeMans car

every time you try and put me off...."it gave me a headache"..."it's undriveable"..."dont' do it"....is it wrong that it makes me want to do it more and more?!

It makes you need to prove how loud it really is, so you can say you've done it!

Incidentally my larini is pretty quiet inside the car but quite loud outside. Needs to be louder though... de cat soon.
