Today 26-03-2006 I was at a open day in Germany, at the factory from Wiesmann, with a good also car lover girlfriend and we had a very good lovely car and people day.
There was a lot to see in their factory and you could see it all everything was open for public!
A lot of Wiesmann cars and car lovers, and things to eat and drink and music and the SUN all in all a very fine day!

What a lot of people don't know is that the new Wiesmann GT(closed version with 4.8 V8 BMW) has a complete Alu chassis and also wheelhubs? and setup/threeangels? don't know how that is called in English, lets say most things on that car where handcrafted from the best materials and sometimes made from a block sollid Alu! see pics...
So it has a lot Elise/Exige look in the "same" matter looking at the first concept of that GT in 2003.(glasfibre body, Alu chassis)

Their also where some prototype cars there, the first and only wiesmann roadstar out 1987? looked at the front as some old Ferrari Dino nice...
And a protoptype GT with a M5 V8 and 430hp and I also have some news out first hand...but don't know if I put that here?!
Anyway, you could also drive those cars and they sound so nice!(I was to late, their where to many people for the testride, but they invited me to come another time for a longer ride a wonderfull exhaust system and ofcorse handmade, like most parts of the car(rest is BMW stuf)and to a high standard if you could speak from a standard here some Alu handmade parts! just a few, even pipe work from coolingwater...Alu welded.

Also this is Alu...

We also saw some strange cars like this flat special VW beattle...awsome customcar

And an almost TVR Cerbera looking Yellow Wiesmann GT (not my taste though)

I think they also will make the roadster in Alu in the near future? because it still has the iron frame chassis, though very well made.

The differences between the two cars are bigger then first thougt also the wheelbase of the Alu chassis build GT is longer and so is the car...the roadster weight around 1060kg and has 343ps(latest version) and the GT weights around 1200kg but has 367ps(on the moment) maybe in the near future 550ps

When your a carfreak and love little details you realy have to pay them a visit in Dülmen Germany, they are nice and proud on their cars...and love to show you around?!(this is me proud also)

All in all a good day...only problem is, I realy...REALY want to have such GT car myself...but I don't have that money so I have to wait a few years? till I can hopefully buy a second hand one day! its a very luxury GO-KART with a great feeling, very fast and comes with a useble trunk so everyday useble and still very special and rare...and that was showed by one Wiesmann Roadster MF3(E36 M3 engine)of a client with more then 200.000km on it! also good paintwork and every color in the world you can put on it and every color of leather...felt like a kid in the candystore

Here my friend, shes small about 1.67cm so you can see the diffrence the wiesmann roadster and a mini mini?

I forgot to make a nice interior picture, so I took from from a website...but pictures alone does not do the car justice

Hope you liked my info about a car I also love the Wiesmann GT, and I know most of you are carlovers so...

Great write up with lots of info & photos from you too - as always!

I'm not in the market for one, but they certainly have some appeal - especially the one in the photo of you!

I really like the Weismann GT ....shame they dont have a UK dealer and do RHD versions yet ..would make a great German alternative to a TVR or Marcos

I've finally written up my brief road test of the GT. I'll try to get it online this week.

You have driven one already then? they have 2 or 3? testcars of the GT and those are mostly the early cars...till numebr 5? its the 4.4 BMW engine and not perfect gaps and finished, but from then upwards they use the very nice 4.8i 367ps V8, and that and some little changes(they make such car better/more perfect in the proces) I believe they are now building number 23 so Wiesmann cars are very exclusief too, also a bit expensive, but they are realy handmade and with great care and love.
They also have a prototype with 430ps M5 engine I believe, it is a 5.0L and more is coming

I look out for your findings PetrolTed, and hope you drove the later car...

And knowing they gona expand their bisnes/factory(wich is not always a good thing though) they maybe can deliver cars sooner(their is a long wating list, but you can folow your car)
cheers

Sadly they not making that many cars, they have a nice factory and friendly people and the working atmosfhere is very nice and relaxt? very comfy @ home?
The cars stay very exclusive because of the "limited" production capabilitys?...but they are working on a bigger factory so, maybe also more cars per year...and who knows? I forgot to ask if they also can/will make RHD? but I guess with that waiting list they have it busy anough already, I try to ask next time when I visit them, I surely go again to their factory this year, or when they have a meeting somewhere.

Great post Rene, thanks for sharing the pics - I really love those cars, if I were a collector and had the time, money and place to keep such a beautiful vehicle I'd place an order today.

Nice to see the man behind the ID and some of the most fun threads on the Lotus forum in PH for a while

They are a bit more refined now...but your also a busy man the later cars are much more in shape and little things are bettered, and more finished/quality...
But still I like to see your findings, maybe also ad that it was the earlier car in the overview? the 4.4 and not the 4.8? because I think their work is a piece of art, a bit like the Zonda is...and as a bonus in 2007 a more powerful GT...around 500ps they have orange light for a special engine
Did you also visit the factory? and did the tour? anyway I see the article maybe next week
cheers and keep doing the good work

So this will be my favorit dreamcaryes maybe as some of you know the Wiesmann GT has a same sort chassis lay out as the Lotus Elise/Exige all alu though they use more things in Alu those cars have to be seen in the flesh so nice craftmansworkcloud9

Me too...but what the price will be for the UK?? I know its around 115.000euro's in germany for the "standard" Wiesmann GT V8 so the V10 would be around 140.000euro's I guess but thats all speculations...the price in NL with the high tax BPM will be around 180.000euro's then! so I have to wait for a second hand(a few years sadly) or win the lottery...though for what you get the pricetag is resonable compared to other cars and those Wiesmann's are more rare too! there is no official news of producing the V10 yet, a lot have to be checked out with but they like to offer a power version in 2007! so I guess by the end of the year we know more, also around the RHD versions they will make for the UK and other RHD countries...

The coupe's lines are so much cleaner. so obv it's the v10 wiesmann coupe in a dark metallic and keep the lotus for when the sun's out. that was easy.
