Just went home for lunch, on the way back had a very sooped up Skyline GTi-R up my arse (carbon bonnet, very large exhaust you know the score). I pulled in and let him past (about 70mph), then pulled out behind him and he floored it - so did I, in 4th and managed to keep up with him easily, until I bottled out because I didn't want to lose my license.
I was very chuffed, especially as just after I slowed back down to 80, a cop car shot up the slipway with it's lights going and it looked like it was giving the bloke chase.

When I first got the liz I had one of those pull upto me at a set of traffic lights. Typical plonker, with all the flourescent crap & ridiculous plastic add-ons, crap music blaring out everything in the vacinity, baseball cap etc.

Don't usually rise to such challenges, but only had the car a couple of days so wanted to give the loud pedal a bit of a squeeze. Left him miles behind and by the time I got to 4th he had very sheepishly backed right off

I think you'll find that there is no such thing as a Skyline GTi-R. Could of been a skyline GTR (the big one) or a Pulsar GTi-R ((the v.quick little hatch thang). Both are kinda 4wd types & quick enough.

If it was a GTR, and in good running condition, I doubt he would have seen which way he went.

Especially at 70+

Fair enough, it was a GTR then, looked fairly serious. I don't normally bother with such things, but I thought I'd let him past because I knew exactly what he'd do. Felt a bit of a tt actually afterwards purely for that fact that I'd done it and risked my license.
Still, I enjoyed laughing my tits off.

Chuffed you kept up with a GTr then? The point being?

Someone always has to judge don't they? Why comment at all - what difference does it make anyway?

There isn't any point other than me being slightly surprised that I could keep up. I couldn't give a to be honest as I am more into the car for the whole experience. The last thing I wanted to do was create a debate on which car is better etc etc...boring, it happens so much on these forums. Wish I'd never mentioned it now

I love Skylines, a GT-R34 would be in my all-time greats garage for sure.

A mate has an old 350ish brake GT with a GTR bodykit & Nismo wheels, all in black, straight through exhaust and loads of HKS nonsense under the bonnet. It's a flame-spitting rocket-ship, and whilst my car will show it a clean pair of heels to about 50-60 after that the power of the Skyline just hauls past. In a newer R34 I doubt I'd even get close.

bogie might give him a run for his money though.

When I testdrove the second Lotus Elise I've ever driven back in?? 1999? that was a 160s anyway, I drove a Nissan Sunny(pulsar) GTI-R tuned to around 300ps and I liked the easy to go(and play with the power) to 100km/h Elise 160, but over 120kn/h I realy missed the power of the Nissan GTI-R...so I told that to the salesman and he says yep, on the autobahn ways its not special, but on a twisty road its wonderfull, and he's right in that as you all know...but on a straight a lets say 200hp Elise is no match for the 300hp Nissan Sunny(pulsar) when you go from 120km/h to lets say 200km/h...
you need the bogie-man to show the rearend of the beautiful arse of the Elise

It's all OK, I hate email etc. because it's so easy for those reading it to take it the wrong way/misinterpret. I thought Skylines were properly quick; I wanted to express my surprise at being able to keep with one (whether it was ed or not) upto 115, possibly more if I hadn't had lost my bottle.
They are a cool car no doubt, but I didn't post the message to dispute that in any way!

That should be an exclamation mark rather than a full stop.

Enjy - having been in one I really think you'd struggle to get anywhere near it after about 80mph if the guy was really trying. They have so much power they just obliterate Lotus' I'm afraid.

ibz - no full-stop after an exclamation old boy. Keep up at the back please!
