Can anyone help please? My elise s1 is suffering from the bonnet catch not releasing (engine end) , resulting in me not being able to get my roof out & back on! I have tried spraying grease into the gap & onto the catch, but this isnt working. Has anyone had similar problems, & did you find a cure?
Cheers.

Does the handle move when you pull it and feel like there's some resistance? If not the cable may have snapped. If that's the case, you can peel back the rear drivers side wheelarch liner and the cable is behind there, try pulling on it as that can release the boot. A new cable is about £25 I think.

If it feels like it's doing something then the mechanism may be out of line, get someone to pull the handle while you press and wiggle the lid. You can try pulling it a bit too but be careful not to damage the panel.

Had the same problem recently.. it's so frustrating!

If the cable is ok try moving the boot lid (it can be hard to get a grip on the sides) from left to right some times that can work. I ended up using a platistic lid to lift one side up and after trying left to right movements gave it a good pull... test of faith here but it popped out!

Once you do get it free you might want to check the bolt on the boot (the male part that bolts into the the boot lid!) as I found this to be the cause, I think I just screwed the bolt down so it was a bit longer and it's been fine since (fingers crossed!)... I did get it stuck again tho when I was testing how much to move the bolt so be carefull

Good luck
