Has anyone done this? If so, was it practical and what seat did you use?

Have a baby on the way and am desperately clinging on to the hope that I can keep the Elise....!

Cheers.

Yes. I use a Britax occasionally for my 2.5 year old in my 1999 S1.

It works fine apart from you have to be careful not to scrape your knuckles against the side of the child seat when you release or apply the handbrake... but for me it's occasional use, so not too much of an issue.

Hello, first post virgin so be gentle! Just wanted to say don't worry about finding a seat, I was in exactly the same position, and there are several seats, both rear facing for the first few months and forward facing for later which will fit without problems in my S1. Go to Halfrauds (or Mothercare if you're really brave!) and try them out.

Congrats on the baby too, they really are good fun after the initial shock wears off!

Try here. www.britax.co.uk
They have a fit finder which i helped to compile.
We are based in Andover to & always willing to help.
Of the top of my head, its the Britax evolva that fits but im pretty sure that you may struggle to get something suitable for a new born child. IE Rear Facing.

Carry my little lad in the 160 no prob. Child seats fit extremely well. My problem is that I had another lad twelve weeks ago and when he gets a bit bigger they will both want to go in it. Has anyone removed the engine cover and bolted a child seat in the boot? This would seem to solve my problem.........

Just a tip, if you ever go into mother care don't take your mate in with you like I did. Went in without thinking about it and anded up looking like a gay couple who had adopted a baby.
