A mate of mine is thinking of getting an Elise, no disrespects but I've told him a TVR is the faster option however, he insists the Elise will be an easier and a more economical car to maintain, well there is no argument there, where would you get a Lotus serviced in the Gatwick/Crawley area? and approx how much a service?

Have you tried a search? I'll think you'll find this has been done to death.

Miserable tw-ts, I think I will stick to the TVR forums, Lotus is a girls or camp hairdresser's car anyway!

Of course we're all miserable - every time we find nice twisty road there is usually a TVR stuck on it !

Seriously though as Lotus still have a factory they have a nice factory supported website - here you can use the search facility to find your local dealership ! (Do let us know if you have trouble using this search tool too !)

Thats what put me off changing this year, I was looking at starting with a Cerbera then moving onto a Tuscan (costs wise) but I've owned and Alfa and know exactly how frustrating it is when a car constantly breaks down.. T350's are meant to be better but its a bit girly?!

Three types of service, roughly cost

A - £100 to £250
B - £200 to £350
C - £350 to £500

Some cars have 9,000 miles/1 Year intervals and run AABAAC sequences others have 6,000/1 Year intervals and run with a sequence something like BBABBC.

Cambelt every 4 years.

Close Paul thumbup
Elise S1 standard
Elise S1 111s
Elise S1 135
these are all 9,000 miles and or 1 year as you said and it is AABAAC

Sport 160
Sport 190
340R
These are all 6,000 miles and or 1 year and they go ABABAC

The only difference with the B service is the plugs i think.

Look Ladies, I've driven both the Remington Exige and the Remington Elise, both times whilst my TVR was in for a service. The Tuscan is tricky to get into however, once you have found the button under the wing mirror and the door has opened you can actually get in, on both of the above appliances the actual door hole is too small, the garage rep said "just open the door and just throw yourself in", so I did, and quite frankly the inside of my dish washer was more luxurious, the seets are like plastic ice cream scoops, then trying to get out (Jim Carey squeezing himself out of the plastic Rhino on Ace Ventura springs to mind), christ all mighty, how do you do that without looking daft. Couldnt wait to get the Tiv back, nice leather seats, extreme power, leather trim carpets instead of aluminium checquer plate - TVR any day.
