Saw this and if it is the future, it may not be all that bad after all scratchchin

Do you think this will catch on? If the range is correct I would only have to charge it once a week, and it appears to require very little maintenance.

I would consider buying this to just piss red ken off alone, however I'm sure at the moment it costs as much as a small aircraft.

It's very tempting indeed. The acceleration is supposedly out of this world.
At ~£50k, it doesn't seem that bad for a car with half-decent looks, great performance and (relatively) small running costs.

I know they are now selling to the rest of the States (as opposed to just CA), but I wonder how much it'll be once they start to export it.
Apparently, they are actually assembled in Hethel (maybe that's old news? I only just found out), so it should be cheaper than the US version as they won't have to ship it over here! (we can all dream!)

Can't wait to see one in the flesh.

I did see some on the production line when I did the Factory Tour last year.

Fantastic.

I just wish it was all Lotus' own work as I really think it and any derivatives have a massive future and would have transformed the companies fortunes.

I'd buy one.

Tis a shame and slightly odd that lotus havnt agreed a deal to brand it as their own. They could have used lotus's existing dealer network for sales and servicing to. Maybe it was seen as too much of a risk in light of all their other current commitments.

It will be interesting to see if the car takes off.

Oh I don't know...Lotus have done much of the work on behalf of Tesla, are widely known as the people behind the car and have learn lots about the technology and how to make it work for themselves. They've also no doubt sent a bill to Tesla for this and get all of their expense back. Often the pioneer historically does worse than the people that take the concept and refine it - mainly because the pioneer has spent all their money making it work in the first place and making mistakes others learn from.

On that basis Lotus are perfectly placed to step out of the shadows and make their own electric sportscar at a fraction of the development cost.

I hope you are right Kevin.

Lotus are doing a great job with alternative fuel in attractive cars. It would be a shame if thier input went largely un noticed as a result of being used only on non Lotus products.

No, you're right- imagine trying to get the 175s to bite with all that weight trying to push them wide...!
