Sure you have all posted on this subject before, but please, humour me. If you haven't already guessed the cable on my S1 is U/S. Can this be fixed in my garage or is it an 'experts' job. What's involved? Thanks in advance.

remove old cable, replace with new. Easy

To do this at home you will need....

I found it easier to remove the offside rear wheel to remove the inner wheel liner altogether. If the boot isnt already open then locate the outside of the cable behind the liner and give it a tug - chances are the cable inside is firmly wedged and hence snapped in the first place. This should open the boot. Unbolt cable from the boot end and tie a strong piece of string or fishing wire to the end (you'll see why..)

go to the lever end. Remove speaker pod to access the panel behind the lever and undo the nut, careful not to drop it. Gradually pull out cable with the wire/string attached so it sits in place of where the old cable was.

Pack the new cable with grease if you can, tie it from the lever end to the wire/string and then pull it through via the string from the boot end so it goes back to position and reassemble. Roberts ya father's brother.

Cheers! Consider myself well and truly humoured! Only anticipate one problem: The retaining nuts on the handle have already dropped into the abyss.
Thanks for your help, really appreciate it!!!

When you pass the new cabl;e through the bodywork, don't forget to pas it through the big bolt that holds it tight against the bodywork and keep hold of this nut as you pass it through.

It's easiest with an assistant TBH.

As for bits dropped inside - anyone working on an Elise needs one of these
