I see... frenchmen don't count a lot in that story.

Doesn't matter, I'll be away for a long time with my FFF-P&J when you two will come to take yours back home. hihihi... biggrin
You DO count, but let's face it... Lee and I have built up a history of names calling, so we have a reputation to keep up LOOOL

Is there not a chat room you chaps could find instead of wasting other folks time who are monitoring the thread.

Oops, sorryyyyyy, didn't know it was a forum where humour and enthusiasm to get a car back after almost 2 years of waiting, isn't allowed...

Gents I had no intention of sounding like a grumpy old man, but I am monitoring the thread to see if there are (after almost 6 months) any engines available for customers yet and what other things have developed - perhaps some info on why a 4.0+ engine would not be produced etc. smile.

We still have 2 S6 engined cars so I have an interest in any S6 products - snake oil or otherwise wink.

I sincerly hope that RGs version of the FFF S6 engine is an huge success and that it is seen as a positive upgrade of the S6 (by folk who understand the engine, and not just giddy punters wink) that will give folk further confidence in the S6 engined cars.

Now then ... is there any new news (of a technical nature about the engine). hehehehe

Yep. An Englishman, a Frenchman.....

Not much at the moment John. Everything that RG have seen so far is to spec and looking good. There are some technical niceties that have evolved a bit, to do with things like half time bearings, but nothing tangible to touch. Other than those bits, if you go to see Martin and Colin.

As for the 4.0litre +, you'd have to talk to the guys about that, but I believe it is simply that they want to optimise power AND reliability and don't see the net benefit of increasing capacity as being worth very much in terms of BHP against potential loss of integrit.

I think that is why they would also prefer to limit to total output when bolting on the S/C.

Yes, 600bhp is fine for me thank you LOOOL

John, I'm just a bit of a nutcase, so don't worry when I give comments... On the other hand, it's true that both the Englishman, Frenchman and Belgian (sorry always been bad in math) are looking forward to get the engine, so forgive us if we're sometimes too enthusiastic.

As for technical details: since the one piece cast head, there haven't been many updates so far, but I guess all will be clear on the 28th when RG have their open door day... Personally I'm looking forward there to discover how far we're at then. And if any news comes up, and RG don't mind us sharing it, we will definitely give it to PH wink

First time reading this thread. Was at RG on Thursday to drive the FFF T350. Well worth the 600 mile trip from Aberdeen. Whilst the BA network ground to a halt with the adverse weather the snow didn't stop the 30 minute test drive.

First impression on start up (in freezing conditions) was of course the noise of the engine - or lack of it. Very quiet in comparison to normal SP6. Test drive was limited due to road conditions but lasting impression was the ease of pickup from 2000 rpm in 4th or 5th. No lag or hesitation in the slightest. At speeds up to 80 or 90 (private road) the sound in the cabin was that of exhaust and wind noise, engine imperceptable - no raucous scream like Sag.

Back at the office and over a coffee Colin explained and showed in great detail all the engineering upgrades and machining that's gone into the engine. I now know my finger followers from my buckets!

RG are due to see the new castings again this Tuesday so it shouldn't be too long before the engines are available. Certainly food for thought in terms of keeping the Sag long term. Vast improvement over original design and a real alternative (for me anyway) to 'upgrade' as opposed to chopping car for Porsche or similar - if I decide the Sag is a keeper.

Thanks to all at RG for the enthusiasm and passion shown about TVR, I hope the engine is a resounding success. Be great once a few are out there and we can get some real feedback from owners.

Glad it was worth the 600 miles Neil. Cracking piece of kit, that engine eh?

Looks like I'll be getting mine around the 28th Feb to coincide with the RG open day. Really getting the excited itching of anticipation now it's only three weeks away.

Would be nice if we'd all three get them that day... Imagine us three walking in, and driving out with a HUGE grin on our face...

Crikey, I'm smiling just thinking about it! I'll call Martin/Colin later this week to gauge progress.

What a coup for RG if we could all drive them away at their open day...

Yeah, imagine walking in, and seeing our P&J's there, waiting for us, all ready to go...

I'd be even more mental than I already am then wink

All systems are go.

My Tam will be going in to RG next week for strip down.

Bottom half of the engine will be sorted next week, the finished heads will be available early the following week.

So 28th February looks to be the date.

If I ever decided to go for the TVR Power 4.3 engine, how does match with the RG FFF? Can they co-exist?

Don in answer to your question all S6 variants (tvr power included) are manufactured from the same base head and block casting so all should be well.
