Hi,
Looking to install a dashcam in the family runaround, and saw the Nextbase 322GW from Halford:
https://www.halfords.com/technology/dash-cams/next...
It appears to be a decent enough spec including memory card, and the fitted price is competitive too. I am absolutely useless with DIY tools, and even worse with anything electrical so self-fitting is not a option!
For you dashcam experts, are there any negatives I should be aware of re: 322GW?
Thanks

We have a 522GW with the add-on rear camera, and it works fine.Looking to install a dashcam in the family runaround, and saw the Nextbase 322GW from Halford:

Some odd things with Nextbases:
The playback on a computer works in a juddery fashion on Windows, i think it's set up for Apples.
For me the SD card gets stuck in Nextbases (both of them) and I can't get it out again.
I chose the 522 over the 322 because Argos had an offer on at the time, meaning the 522 at Argos was the same price as a 322 at Halfords.
Viofo A129 4K Duo pro great camera.
I just replaced my latest crapping out Nextbase after only 18 months. What an unreliable piece of st. The A129’s image quality is leagues ahead so will see how the reliability works out over the coming months.
Blackvue was my original pick, I had a full HD one back in 2013, a superb unit but their prices now are an absolute joke.

If you don’t give a damn about your car then feel free to get Halfords to fit it.Looking to install a dashcam in the family runaround, and saw the Nextbase 322GW from Halford:

Who is still using the original mobius
I have 5 on the go, still going strong
I still have three of the original mobius and one of them is now on the blink.I have 5 on the go, still going strong
Don't use them anymore as image quality has improved quite a bit over the past 6 years (especially in low light) so don't think they are fit for purpose when used as dashcams anymore.

Had a look at some demo footage and it seems pretty good for the price, I use a 70mai (parent company Xiaomi) dashcam and it has parking mode with the built in battery which lasts around 10 days https://www.70mai.com/en/
Uploaded a quick demo video here from the dashcam (needs to be clicked, resolution and bitrate is lost via thumbsnap)
It's on NSL roads so the closing speed would easily be in triple figures yet the numberplate can be clearly seen with screenshot taken from VLC of the Red fiesta, when I had the mobius it was fine in urban areas but when used on faster roads it wouldn't capture oncoming cars at speed and low light or dappled shade quality was abysmal compared to modern dashcams.
Edit: I also use polarised filters on my dashcams in summer as it cuts down on the reflections from the dashboard and helps improve the image quality.

Decided to spend a few pennies more and bought the 522GW model instead +nextbase sd card. I had doubts at the back of mind with using Halford for fitting, so I actually used a local ICE shop who did a neat job overall.
Nothing significant to report on the camera, except it works as expected and the video clarity is adequate (clearly read number plate) for any future incidents.
Edit to add: Must be satisfied with the camera and local fitter as I am tempted to fit the same camera into my other car too.

What software did the videos used to play in prior to your update? Could be that the default software for .mov has changed on your computer.
Try installing VLC - https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.en-GB.html has always managed to play anything I’ve thrown at it

No idea on the software, used to just plug in the data card from the dashcam and click 'play files' and it used to just work, have tried opening/playing the files with every option given on my laptop, will install from that link and try thatTry installing VLC - https://www.videolan.org/vlc/index.en-GB.html has always managed to play anything I’ve thrown at it

CHORTAU Dash Cam For Cars Front and Rear Full HD 1080P, Dual Dash Cam 170° Wide Angle 3.0 inch, Dashboard Camera with WDR Night Vision, Loop Recording, G-sensor, Motion Detection, Parking Monitor https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07Q5R22DV/ref=cm_sw_r...
This dash cam deal appears to be good. Anyone own this model, is it as decent as the reviews suggest?

This website has a good guide for various use cases, I've got number 2 on the list and it's been working fine for nearly two years without issue (there's an updated 4k version now) and cost less than £50.

We are still using our trusty Aukey DR02 and Aukey DR02D. I still think they are excellent value for money. Some sample vid below from the one fitted to the C1 racecar. This is with it turned down to 720 so that we could get the 24 hour race onto one memory card.

I still have three DR02D units, one of them is connected up to the Aukey motion sensor / parking mode / OBD2 plug module - I find that the card gets full really quickly which then leads the unit to start rebooting itself constantly rather than overwriting itself as expected, I'd recommend the cameras in a heartbeat but not any of the add-ons. That said the VIOFO A129 Plus Duo looks like a really good upgrade, albeit at a significantly higher price.
