Hi all
Any recommendations please for a front/rear package for £150 budget one that's easy to get the footage from??? Preferably from The Amazon.
Been a long time since I bought one and haven't a Scoobie.

Just purchased it from amazon. They had a £20 voucher linked as well.

I’ve just had a Road Angel Halo Pro fitted, seems decent enough and I like it doesn’t have a screen, although down side to that is you need to connect your phone to it to view video (basically connect to it via Wi-Fi).
Image quality looks decent and had it hard wired in so you can’t see any cables at all, not the most feature rich but does what you need a dash cam to do.
Currently £169 on their website https://www.roadangelgroup.com/products/road-angel... which isn’t cheap but still within mid range for a decent dash cam.
I have one of these. The only downside is it's nigh on impossible to find, view and download a video.Image quality looks decent and had it hard wired in so you can’t see any cables at all, not the most feature rich but does what you need a dash cam to do.

Thankfully nothing has happened that I need the footage for, just a few times where I'd post on here (one comment I posted a while ago about someone pulling out on me on a roundabout would be a great example of the footage making the point more easily than several posts and queries).
Incredibly frustrating because the footage is brilliant quality when you do finally get it downloaded.

Hi all
Thinking about getting a dashcam as been on the receving end of some pretty atrocious and dangerous driving recently. Had one crazy overtake from behind when I was in a 20mph school zone, even though there was oncoming traffic. Both myself and oncoming cars had to do emergency stops. Also had a G Wagon and Range Rover pull out right infront of me from a driveway and side turning, resulting in me having to do more full emergency stops otherwise there would definately had been hard contact.
Started looking at Which website and this thread re dash cams but noticed many of these seem to be suited to modern cars, but I drive a shed (1990's Avensis) so no new 'ports'. Not looking for something with all the bells and whistles, just something to record front and back and preferably no hard wiring, but not sure this is possible with an old car. Not bothered about wifi either, happy to record onto memory card and download.
Any suggestions or help greatly appreciated as always.
Thanks in advance

Old tech now for sure but if you just need the basics and have a cigarette lighter socket an Aukey DR02D setup can be had for around £60 now. Output is good enough to read number plates, the parking mode is useless but if it's just in-motion stuff you want it captures footage good enough to use as evidence if necessary.
Ideally I'd like to pop a cam in our classic mini but there's no power. I wondered about taking a power bank and using that - most trips are only local for say 30 mins.
The alternative is to get a power socket fitted in the mini which I'm sure is straightforward but just wondered what others are doing.

You'll find them with extra modules to sense movement or to work while the car is off but ensure they don't drain the battery but you can pick them up relatively cheaply online or get model specific ones for certain dash cams.
"dash cam hardwire kit" in Google should sort you out but a power bank will work too if that's easier for you to manage, I wouldn't trust myself to keep it charged
Does anyone have a blackvue 770x? Or similar..
I've just purchased and fitted one , ooking at video on the app I'm not impressed with the quality of video do I need to change something to improve it ?
Also can you buy adjustable mounts? Where I have mine fitted the only place that doesn't block driver view is to left of rear view mirror, but means the right side of the car iit captures s limited. It just needs turning ever so slightly but the mount only allows up down movement.
Thinking I should have kept nextbase but it didn't record very well in parking mode.

I had a near miss last week with an idiot in a Tiguan. Luckily I was slowing and able to swerve I approached the roundabout he was coming off and thought a busy single carriageway A road - with no overtaking lanes coming off the roundabout - had the space to overtake a Transporter with nary an issue for the opposite lane
I'm not one for shopping folk, but I would've done if I had a dashcam, so I've come looking for a recommendation! I'm not looking to hardwire it as for added peace of mind it'd be nice to take it out of the car and for visibility I want to pop it on top of my dash, rather than hang it. I found one on ebay, but I thought I'd be best off asking here.
TIA
Michael

Has anyone tried the mirror dashcams, such as these (sold by many but seem to be the same device under the skin):
https://www.aliexpress.com/item/1005005992992121.h...
They were reviewed by someone in The Standard newspaper - https://www.standard.co.uk/shopping/esbest/gadgets...
The Jansite one (or version of it) is what I've linked to on AliExpress. Jansite seem to do a higher resolution one (T59S) but it doesn't seem to be on sale / in stock at the moment.
The twin 1080p one, for not much over £40 (have to remember to add VAT to Ali prices) doesn't seem too bad and the reviews generally read quite well.

I'm looking for an externally mounted rear camera so thought this might tick a few boxes but i don't like the idea if the mirror not being a mirror at all times or even just having a little window in it.
I'll look at that one in more detail but it looks to be a considerably cheaper version of the RoadAngel with the same issue where its not actually a mirror (I think?)
A bargain for £35 posted... worth a try maybe?

I was behind a car with one of these this morning, couldn't believe what I was seeing, isn't there a law to have an internal rear view mirror?
I am not surely is a legal requirement. The new Polestar EV has a a rear view cam showing where the mirror is, you can chop from mirror to vid screen with the touch of a button. The rear window is pretty small and the cam does help.
I believe in the states cars have to have a rear view mirror, the Audi has different rear head restraints in the states to allow the driver to see more than same car in UK.
UK version.
USA version.

Seems you do not legally need a rear view mirror as long as you have two wing mirrors.

I was in a van today with a fancy screen in the mirror for the reversing camera which was really useful but it was also a conventional mirror too... very handy for looking at the bulkhead.
It would have been a perfect candidate for one of these "all screen" ones.
I have a wolfbox 900 which is similar to this. When off it is a mirror. When I select reverse I get a rear view camera and reversing lines. It also has a front and rear facing camera in constant record. It would have been a perfect candidate for one of these "all screen" ones.
I use it in mirror mode all the time but the wide angle reverse camera is really useful.

Just ordered the Nextbase IQ, £269 with a 10% voucher.
Like the idea of the OBD connector and reviews are pretty good. Should be here Tuesday..
Arrived and set up but really disappointed with the picture quality so far. I'm hoping it's me and some settings, but if not, it'll be going back to Nextbase Like the idea of the OBD connector and reviews are pretty good. Should be here Tuesday..
