Google maps for me. I have tried all of them, and Google maps is IMO by far the best. I just tell it where to go literally and it does the rest.
Google just bought Urban Engines so I'd expect things to improve even more once they start using their analytics to improve planning.https://www.urbanengines.com
I usually use Google maps, but also have Sygic on my phone. Usually use Google maps by default, but I'm doing a long drive in France this summer and was wondering which to use over there. A big consideration for me is having the current speed limit on the display (due to new ability of French fuzz to fine British drivers from speed cameras), which Google doesn't do. However, I have got Velociraptor which overlays Google maps for this purpose. What I don't know though is whether that app works in France. Anyone know? I've searched the internet for an answer on this, but nothing shows up. If so, job done. If not, I might pay to upgrade my Sygic to get Traffic (12 quid or so), as I don't want to get caught in another summer autoroute French traffic jam.
Also, using data for satnav in France isn't a problem any more regarding charges, right? Roaming fees are gone, so I just use my usual UK data allowance. Have I got that right?

Yes, that's right. I'm with EE. Charges still apply for stuff outside of your plan. See below for example.EE
