My dad is 74 and not brilliant with technology (although I have managed to get him pretty ok with a laptop, email, internet etc!)

I was going to get him a satnav for xmas, but want one that covers UK only (he wont drive abroad) and has a clear screen, good voice instruction, and has straightforward controls, input, and full UK postcode recognitiion if poss etc.

Can anyone save me some xmas shopping time and point me in the right direction please?

Many thanks?

Cheers,

Andy

My mum is 82 so I have had this experience for the last decade or so, might be an idea to help him out and preprogramme his favourite locations for him, so a lot of the hard work is done?

Tomtom XL - you cannot go wrong with Tomtom for ease of destination entry and clarity of directions. If he can use email he will have no problems with satnav. The wider screen of the XL version is worthwhile in my opinion - not everyone agrees. Currently £120 from Dixons online, £130 from Halfords, apparently 'with free breakdown assistance'.
