Garmin or TomTom?

I'm looking at the latest from both but cant decide, read so many conflicting reports.

I want Traffic data ... seems the free Garmin offering is OK?

Other 'musts' ... lane assist, traffic re-route, widescreen ...

Any comments gratefully received.

The TomTom Live is very appealing (I heard it works via Vodaphone tracking mobile phones on roads to gauge traffic) ... worth £8/month?

I've heard nothing but good things from Garmin owners, but its the TomTom's that seem to be rushed into the market place 'buggy' not full tested ....

Its as clear as mud!
