New video - overtaking
Discussion
I think it's amusing that people here are critiquing a Police Driving Instructor. This guy is trained to drive to the highest standards (I know, I've driven with him on a number of hoons) and it's as well to remember that the camera doesn't give you the whole story when it comes to visibility and sight lines.
Reg's posting is missed but understandable.

Can you explain overtake 3 to me please (cement truck)? There is a junction on the right hand side which appears just as you have completed the overtake. Surely that is a bit too close for comfort. If someone was turning left out of there, they would have looked right, pulled out and then seen someone coming towards them on their side of the road.
If that person had turned left just as you had started your overtake it would have been a close call.

I agree to an extent (and I certainly miss Reg's postings as he was really good at getting the message across without sounding holier than thou) however if you're going to post a video on 'how it should be done', it really should be faultless and beyond reproach.Reg's posting is missed but understandable.

An interesting Video - Thanks, Reg.
Just a couple of queries:
01:44 Hidden entrance on offside
...and at 1:12 (nearside).Just a couple of queries:
01:44 Hidden entrance on offside
He was committed to the overtake at 1:07 - something could easily have emerged from the junction (turning right), seeing the van coming (slowly) and deciding he could just make it before van arrived, not seeing the overtaking car on the opposite side of the road.

As far as overtaking goes, it's not enough to say "I couldn't see a junction/entrance", it needs to be in the positive "I could see there wasn't a junction/entrance"

p.s. Thanks for your continued best wishes - means a lot to me. Dave.
(Do you type it each time, or is it a 'cut & paste' job?)
