made throttle cable bracket, fitted CDA finally and inlets to the front of the car round the rad,

took the exhaust off (really nice workmanship, everything just fitted) refit the starter motor,

fitted a temporary oil pressure mechanical gauge as the tam one probably wont work till its electronics are tweaked.

cranked it over and got 50psi on 5 secs cranking (tam dash said nil...just as well i fitted mech gauge then)!!

fitted steering pump in a new SS cradle between the CDA units, (no oil tank) ..still got to fit the wraparound bracket to the pump, but its where it needs to be atm.

beaded the ali water pipes, mounted the new screen wash bottle (which has a sight tube so i can see if it has water in it without resorting to mirrors or dipsticks) refitted the bonnet, which still opens and closes, though is within 5mm of the CDA units.....

ECU is not picking up a crank position signal, which is either a muppet wiring fault on my part, or the ECU base map isnt quite right for my configuration......at this point was foiled as the data comms cable had a 9 pin serial connector, which my laptop doesn't......

off to maplins then!

result i hope

spoke to emerald, wrong trigger in the baseman, 2 versions of a crank trigger 24 or 58??

ecu was set for wrong one, which also means the cam trigger which i need was not live.

so now i have a cable adaptor and can access the ecu , hope i can get things moving.

ECU now sorted, combination of wrong map, wrong setup, wrong firmware and to top it all a faulty cam sensor. not surprisingly it took some head scratching to sort out

anyway with excellent tech support from emerald (sent me a revised config and other settings today), and help from craig at dynotorque (cam sensor and setup help) car is now running properly.

also installed a new ss bracket for the steering pump made by a friends dad.. along with tidying up some of the odds and ends around the front before i refit the bonnet

the square tank in the wing is a new washer bottle, no more guessing what the water level is!!

i will still leave tidying up the cabling till after dyne is done....just incase we need to amend anything

yes.

got to bleed clutch, refit handbrake (exhaust off again) and sort out a few wiring queries i have..

oil pressure gauge doesn't work, might try a pull up resistor, but maybe have to send the dash p[od off for rework as I've heard it reads wrong with the engine edu removed

speedo won't work as there is no trigger wheel on the diff (new btw diffs don't have the abs ring) so I've got to sort that, either from the gearbox or a new pickup wheel on the output or something

I'm sure there will be a few other things around the dash to work out but its doable. vv glad I've 2 electronic tech sons who help me, i would never have found the cam fault without their help

refit the various bits and pieces I've pulled off

dyne

then mot

i think after that i will leave it alone mechanically unless i need to sort anything, and cosmetically till next winter , hope get some miles to sort any issues, then ready for spring

pity it was on axle stands in the garage though. all was well apart from a slight leak on a slave cylinder in the bell housing, so box out, replaced the crimp hose which was leaking, and back together.... bit of a pain but rather find it now than later on the road with no clutch

getting closer....

Steve, i think i've got it. My supplier sent me the wrong spigot bearing. I wil be needing the earlier type needle bearing. My box has the spec of the 2004-2005 gto pontiac. So should be out of a monaro instead of a vxr8. It is however the version with the better gearratio's.

good news.... i know the 6060 is different from t56 , but didn't knw there were variants in the t56 spigot setups.

You need the needle roller type spigot not the later std bearing type , it fit behind where the one you have now ,

Yes, i am am aware now Craig. After hours and hours thinking of what it could be. Hope i can show some progress to you guys in the coming months. I showed the gearboxmount of Steve's Tamora. Opinion of my workshop is that i already have very stiff enginemounts. This gearboxmount should also be very stif. This combined with with the propshaft which goes in "steel-to-steel", it would not contribute to the drivingcomfort. On the other hand, room is restricted with the bigger t56.

now the car is running, time to fit the new subwoofers, heated seat looms, fuel wiring and relays for everything and tackle the wiring monster. It is all just temporarily wired, lots of excess here till i was sure how i wanted it all routing.
