I think the UAE is the only place in the world where the fuel bills will be affordable on these smile
Qatar but yes you're right. With my leaden right foot (and the fact I always put the gearbox into Sport), fuel economy is averaging 15l/100 km (around 15mpg) although on a highway run it will climb to 11l/100 km (about 21 mpg). Actually fuel is even cheaper here than UAE so it's only £10 to fill it up (vs £18 in UAE) driving

Were you not tempted to wait a little longer for a 2014 model T6?
Do you mean the new Drive-E models? In any case, I'm on a PCP deal, so in March I had to make the decision to either buy my old one (the Silver R-Sport) or trade it in for a new one. I'm not overly keen to run a Volvo out of warranty here in Qatar so it was a fairly easy decision to trade in for a new one. Plus this 2013 has a fair bit more power than my 2010 one (55bhp and 60 lb ft torque more) so it wasn't quite a like for like swap. When the deal on this one runs out (2016), I'll be looking for an XC90 (as the family is growing) so I'll probably get to try out the Drive-E engines then.

Plus, given how long it takes new models to reach the Middle East, I'm fairly sure the Drive-E models aren't arriving here till late 2014 at the earliest.

Not the Drive-E models, just the facelift for the MY14 models - new lights, new interior, more options etc. They were released here in Europe around last July. Lovely motor, a T-6 Polestar must surprise a few people. £10 fill up is insane, it would cost me £100+ to fill here, hence I dont have one hehe
I've just had a look to see exactly how much difference there is on the MY14 cars. The new exterior is nice, but not necessarily worth waiting for. As far as the interior goes, the only significant change I can see is the LCD dash which I would have gladly paid for if given the chance because I've tried it on the V40 and it is very cool.

The Polestar T6 is indeed very rapid. My other car is an M135i and the biggest compliment I can pay the Volvo is it never feels slow after the BMW (it just feels heavy and a bit slow witted). I haven't timed it yet with my OBD device, but I'm expecting a sub 6 sec time, probably somewhere between 5.7 -5.9 I think. With a better gearbox (like a ZF instead of the Aisin) I'm sure it could have gotten into the low 5s range. Speaking of which I see they're finally offering paddles from MY14 now - that's the only thing I think I'm missing out on big time because I would use them heavily. The Aisin box is frankly poor if left to it's own devices, even with the Polestar reflash it upshifts too far in the interests of fuel economy. Interestingly, my MY10 XC60 was much better in this regards; they changed the programming (for the worse IMHO) from MY 2011.

I got the XC90 back from the body shop last Tuesday. (A chap who was dozing in the traffic went up the back of me in Spain)

Anyway, 5 days back and some scrote nicks the glass from the offside wing mirror yesterday.

Popped the glass & back panel out, unclipped the heater wires and gone.

£77 for a new one. No cctv in the car park.

Grrrrr…..

My GLT. Not quite a T5, but still lovely to drive, and with (very slightly) less painful fuel consumption :-)

Looks good and purposeful! smile Does running wider rims make the steering much heavier?

(thought there'd be more Amazons in this thread by now!?)

A fine set of 15" wheels added this week. Bought them off a chap on the volvo forums, needed a bit of a refurb but all good!

Cheers mate.

The rims are 7 inches wide compared to 4 on the standard... and 195 width tyres compared to 165 do make the steering a bit heavier when parking but it's not too bad really.

Having a smaller steering wheel (Moto Lita) certainly doesn't help!

It'd be nice to see more Amazons on this thread, but I'm really enjoying the mix of classics, moderns and everything in between.

Picked this up on Saturday.

940. 97K on the clock, FSH. Full leather, electric windows, mirrors, sunroof, drivers seat, aircon, rigid boot liner, dog guard & luggage cover and 4 brand new tyres.

Recently serviced and MOT until December.

£200. woohoo

Couple of light wounds but who's complaining. Quieter and more comfortable than the XC90. I think the big blue lump will have to go.

Martin, it looks pale blue in that picture but it's actually metallic silver.

'Blade; will do. I think this one's a keeper.

I can tell it's silver but I'm after something darker - maybe even black. Depends what comes up.

Any interior pics?
