Hi all,

I'm finally in a position to start going to look at some s60's. I've found a few that look like euro 3 facelift cars with 100k or slightly under. Got a couple of questions, though:

-do the euro 3 engines have a black engine cover, and euro 4 engines have a silver one?

-some of them have a collection of buttons on the dashboard where the pop-out drink holder normally goes. What on earth are all these buttons for? In car phone?

-what are the sunroofs like on these? Trouble? I miss having one...
Black/silver cover yes I believe so. Not sure about the other two mine has neither the buttons or a sun roof

Buttons are for in car phone, I think the earlier ones require a SIM card. I've a sunroof on mine, use it all the time and not had any bother.

Ah, cheers. What do people reckon to these three?:

Looks a bit rough, prefer black leather personally. I'm 27, not 67 hehe

A bit 'undertaker' but it looks in good nick. Not sure if it's Euro 3 or 4.

Part of me quite likes the red....

So, I put a deposit down on the black one today biggrin It actually looks like a very dark blue in the flesh. It's in 'honest' condition; a small dent in the rear quarter needs to come out, and due a service.

The one you bought looks good Alpinewhite - I'm in the market for one of these too and saw the same adverts as you! Did you go and see the blue or red one by any chance? smile

Thanks smile pictures hide some defects though! The best thing for me is that the services have been done on time, whether mileage or time based. It's a move to free up some cash from my 120d, and I'm likely to be parking on the street a lot more, so I don't mind that it's got the odd car park ding.

I did call about the red one, but I viewed the black one first and it felt right, so I went for it.

While I'm here, I can't find a definitive answer for what engine oil I need. Or gearbox oil (preventative maintenance here I come). Can anyone help? It's a euro 3 manual.

I just went into GSF, gave them the reg no and they handed over 5 litres of oil. I think it's 10W30 or 15W30 offhand. I can check my manual later if you want.

Good job I checked, it's 0W30 or 5W30. GSF gave me fully synthetic 0W30, which seemed to be fine.

Thanks, I'll keep looking. I asked because its conveniently close to where I live, I went and had a look and a sit inside... I'm convinced, those seats are lovely!

What I really want is something with lower miles

Right, I made a trip to Euro Car Parts today. I'm £250 lighter, but I have oil (thanks super-slo-mo for the 5w30 confirmation!), oil and air filters, front discs and pads, and rear discs, pads and shoes. Should keep me busy for a while

There were a few different fuel filters listed; some were canister types and some were paper filters. Any ideas?

Did you get a filter? I have a spare canister filter that I never fitted. If you need it, let me know. Same goes for anyone else actually, it's a GSF filter, not a genuine parts one, but they seem to be ok.
