Does anyone have any clues on how to override the running lights on new Volvos? The manual says it can be done by "Volvo approved workshops", but on my old 850 it was possible as a DIY job by fiddling around with the headlamp switch.

take it to volvo or an indie with vidavadis they can turn it off, so that you don't look like a prik with your lights on in the middle of summer, probably cost you a score but got to be better than driving around with your lights on all summer !

You could always remove your headlamp bulbs.

I'm joking, okay?! Don't do it. PC Plod wouldn't be amused if you did that.

Oh, I dunno. I quite like the "look at me!" aspect of the running lights when I'm in the Volvo.

Absolutely no idea, but on my 52 plate S80, the light switch has a feature to turn them off, but why do you want to do this?.

I have always thought that lights on give other road users/pedestrians just that little bit more warning your there?

Volvo turned them off for me......then relieved me of £80 for reversing what was a no-cost option for the previous owner.....
Told me it was a "software" issue.....hmmm...I think I see a trend here ....
DRL's are the most pointless thing on a car......its called dayLIGHT for a reason ffs.Put on your sidelights manually if you think nobody can see your 15 foot long 2-tonne lump of metal.....and breathe.....

It really depends on the car, if its an 850/S70/V70/C70 its possible to do it manually, any S60/V70/S80/XC70 etc basically the new stuff is indeed software downloads.
