Probably a good idea to get that right. ) We're looking at fitting a DV camera into one of our R/C aircraft at work.
It feels right, and I feel comfortable enough with thw weight to have a go.Batteries on charge and hoping for good weather
What are you getting up to at work?
Ive got one of those Muvi cameras and have had some good aerial vids. The best perspective is as a pilots eye view but filming through the prop will give crap results, just try it!. Best to angle the cam to the side and slightly down so as you miss the prop arc, but its all about experimenting. Ive got my muvi mounted inside the canopy of a Lander panther jet but not maidened it yet !

I thought the prop may cause a problem....Do you have any videos posted you've taken, be good to see what I'm up against!

Well it didn't go well
The c of g was obviously way too far back and the aircraft was difficult to control, right up to the point where it hit the ground.......... a couple of times! Spinner has gone and the motor is now loose, so a bit of glue and time required.
I then attached the camera on the front of my Blade 400 3D and had a second go. Pretty good, although there is obviously. Some high frequency vibration that is affecting the camera. I've posted it onto YouTube and will provide a link when it's uploaded.
I'm going to buy a high wing of some description and giv.e it another go. Problem with the P51 is the bettery needs to be where the camera is, and you can't fit both in the same place!

Sorry to hear that. Well, you know what they say, if at first you don't succeed etc etc ......
Yeh, ah well!I've repaired the P51 and will use it for its intended purpose - flying without a bloody camera......
I'll have a look around for a cub or similar and possibly something bigger to take the weight and not affect the c of g quite so much.
The youtube video is still processing, as soon as it's there I'll post a link.

and not affect the c of g quite so much.If you need more front ballast, tape a strip of lead on the nose as far forward as you can get it, or put some on the tail...whatever you need to balance it.
Nothing to stop you taping the battery (or s/c) on the outside either in a more appropriate place.
