Would love to own a Rc plane, but the fear of crashing and starting again is too great
I assume one starts with something cheap and cheerful, takes lessons and builds up to something like the Spitfire.
I am starting with one of these:

I think I paid about 250c$ all in, radio equipment/battery included.

I then decided to make life difficult by fitting floats and attempting to learn how to fly it from a lake...the Spitfire looks lovely, i would love to progress to that one day

Seeing that makes me wonder... I fly gliders, real ones, and we use Cubs as tugs. I wonder if you could tow up a r/c glider behind a r/c Cub as a combo? You'd need a channel to release the cable but I'm sure that could be rigged up. Perhaps some of the radio controlled chaps could say? scratchchin

Sorry, bit late to the party but that, I'd love to see smile
Just seen this - I was at my Dads earlier, with my camera!

Will try and remember next time.

Be cool if you can mate. We've got loads of bikes from 1928 - not sure why 1928, it's just ended up that way!

Haven't got a BSA from '28 though, but we have a 34 BSA J12 - your Dad'll know what it is biggrin

Try using a hairdryer at a distance to bend the tail unit, I would not fly that as it is? Send the tail back?

It would probably work, but why should I it's a brand new model... Horizon are really good and will just send a new tailplane.
To be fair I don't mind waiting as the retract legs haven't yet arrived.
Had a couple of problems lately... E-Flight Carbon Cub had to go back as well. Have since found out there's quite a few with the same problem
(broken servo motor gears)

MCPX and a simulator. It fly's just as a bigger one, is crash resistant (just get the power off if you loose it), cheap readily available parts and, despite popular belief, will fly in a breeze outside!

IMHO it's the only way to go, my first was an MFA 500 circa 1983 (pre gyro!!!)

Onto more boring stuff....

Finally finished HMS Bellona prototype model - 1:72 scale, which equals 1.1 metre long and almost a metre high - will be in the shops to buy in, oh, about 3-5 years' time....

That's beautiful Chris, do people buy these as commissions to build for rich people? I can imagine something like that being beyond the reach of most folk

Cheers smile It will be a kit that you can buy (when I have finished contruction drawings and instructions). It really isn't that much harder to build than something like a super detailed Tamiya kit - with only basic skills needed (and I do mean 'basic')

In fact, so impressed was I when looking at the Tamiya Spitfire kit I bought, with the inner detail that cannot be seen when made up, that I designed this kit with fully detailed lower decks, even below the waterline - so there is as much detail inside as there is on the outer hull. (I think there are some earlier pics showing this somewhere in this thread...)

Cost for the kit will be between £500/600 - not a lot considering the new Tamiya Yamato is close to £300 (when adding the optional parts), and that is tiny compared to this, which has thousands of parts - plus well made models are worth thousands at auction
