Some of the items you have there are quite desirable.

Those 1/72 Monogram kits are very good - even though they were first issued back in the 1960s. The Bearcat is a very nice model and goes together really well.

The old Revell kits are a bit variable. For example, the Revell P-51D is now very long in the tooth and would be more likely to appeal to someone who collects old kits rather than builds them
Thanks for the info. Eric. I shall have another rummage in the loft and hopefully find an aircraft I am more familiar with.
I'd go with the Bearcat for the following reasons -

it's a simple model to build
it has a simple colour scheme (all one colour)
for its age its accuarate and precise
it was the US Navy's last single piston engined fighter
it is a cool aircraft

A modified Bearcat still holds the World Speed Record for piston engined aircraft.

Sorry for the delay, kits are finally on their way.

Dr gn , one of your kits has many pieces missing. I shall endeavour to locate missing parts.

Once I've finished searching the loft I will be placing an ad. in Pistonheads classifieds. Two more interesting additions.....a Kawashini H6k5 by Hasegawa, and a ME 323 D1 Gigant by Italeri.

As Pistonheads is not an auction , can someone suggest a sensible asking price for the lot ?

Thanks for all the gen. on the Bearcat . I'm afraid I just can't work up any enthusiasm for the little fella though, Sorry Eric.

Edit. The lot will be minus the kits given to above chaps for charity.

Has the Bearcat found a home then?

I love the things.

No problem, I like the boxes as much as the kits! I've got a few on display in my office. Is the Mustang fairly complete? I have a box already, but it's got an Airfix P-40 in inside for some reason: I never checked when I bought it.

Cheers,

My Harrier T4 arrived in the post this morning. Thank you very much.

I had a quick peek inside the box. I'd forgotten that the Humbrol Bobkit range were quite simplified models - a bit like the modern Hobbyboss Easy-Kits. It's crisply moulded though and looks like it will virtually click together.

I now have a range of Harriers to build -

FROG GR1
Italeri Sea Harrier FRS1
Airfix Sea Garrier F/A2
Humbrol Harrier T4
Revell Harrier GR5

I have already built the Airfix P1127 and Harrier GR3

Eric, I love your passion for aircraft, so the Bearcat will be winging it's way to Farnborough sometime soon.

Dr gn, the Mustang seems to be 100%. You will be able to check and report back when it arrives on your doorstep. smile

Great! Thank You. I might even build the P-40 for some airbrush practice in that case!

Models arrived just after lunch today. They are fantastic, the PZL IIc (and even the few blue plastic bits of the Airacobra) took me straight back to about 1975 and memories of my late Grandad, and the happy hours spent building these models with him and my Dad. Can't stop looking at them!

Thanks for taking the time to send them, not many people would, and I appreciate it very much. Donation made to the Yorkshire Air Ambulance (hope it's an acceptable county!).

BTW the Mustang's complete - no decals, but I have them from the other one I have (the one with the Airfix P-40 inside).

I spent a while last night researching through my decal sheets to see what alternative colours I might try out on the Harrier T4. I discovered I have some decals for a T2 and a Royal Navy T4. Unfortunately, neither are quite the correct version of the two seat Harrier depicted in the kit.

The most interesting of the sheets I have is a Royal Navy one from 1984. However, it is for an upgraded T2 which retains the original pointy nose (sans Laser Designator) and the old style extended tail boom.

The RAF decals I have do depict an aircraft with the Laser Nose but still has the original shape tail boom.

It's amazing how many permutations there have been of the first generation Harrier two seaters - especially considering that they were built in fairly small numbers.

Likewise could I thank you for the 'bonus' Monogram Mustang you sent me last week. It looks to be an excellent moulding even though it is old.

Unfortunately they have gone as I was offered as fair price for the remainder of the kits over the weekend.

However there will be more in the loft for sure. As soon as I have the time I will sort something out and forward it on.

Thanks again to all who have donated to various charities. clap

Well, I chose Yorkshire Air Ambulance, and donated online by debit card. There was no acknowledgement e-mail, nor have they debited my account. I guess I'll e-mail them and ask what's happening.
