I started to get back into Scalextric about 7 years ago - I bought a 911 GT1 then I found this place...

I've now built up a collection of about 60 cars including most of the Martini Porsches.

Ooh, that looks like fun. I'm not up in Wokingham that often since my parents moved, but still have some friends there. Will get practising!I've been going ever since

Was playing scalextric today thought id share a few pics of the layout we have set up at the moment.
Have built in two single lane shortcuts which spices up races (both equal length with one for each lane). Had been running on a 6 car base but it drives us crazy so have just gone with the standard 4 car base. Sorry for crap pictures.

Interesting to hear about the Sport/Classic issues. I have been runing a mix of both, non digital, and have found it all works great but that your Classic stuff must be in good condition. It also helps if you have a couple of the old booster wires if you are running more than 2 sections of Classic.
A few years ago I bought up a BNIB Hazard Short Chicane and Straight like the ones above (Could only afford the Lights when I were a nipper and never had time for cross overs!) and when i finally get round to sorting out a permi lay-out hope to use these!

You seem to have a lot of spoilerless cars!! Bit rough are we
I also see you've got the Aston Gulf Twin Set, I must say it's a good choice, it's an absolutely beautiful set!
Not rough, lets just say well used and raced, to us they are toys and not collectables! Plus with the little single lane sections and fly overs it doesnt take much to roll off the side and snap the spoilers off!! The Astons are brilliant looking cars, but not that amazing on the track. The lola holds on well but isnt that responsive. The DBR9s are great drifters and are very controllable.
The car to beat in standard form out of those lot is the C3045, Audi R8.

Good Man Russy, a man after my own heart.
I do fancy one of those R8's, as they look lovely and go really well.
I've only a small collection myself.
The awesome R10, an MC12, a Rally Focus and a Rally Scoob...all well run in
The R10 wasnt allowed out this time, we use that far too much to try and beat lap times. It truly is a great car, it was getting so hot last time we kept chucking it in the fridge, to cool it quick so we could get back on.I do fancy one of those R8's, as they look lovely and go really well.

R8 is nice, but id hang till the bring the new one out later in the year, pretty sure its a high detail model.
Focus and scoob WRC were great models, really nice details. Hard to get hold of now mind.

Thanks for the info, I'll have to have a sort out and get cleaning!
Well, I've had a sort out and I have way too much track to ever use.So, if anyone wants some track FREE give me a shout and you can have it.
There's a boxful of straights, curves, sharp curves, partial curves, lap counter & a couple of power supplies with throttles too. No cars sorry I'm keeping them!
It needs a clean up but I don't want anything for it. (I'm near Chepstow & work near Filton)

My set up isn't digtal though, it's in the pipeline. Mine is a mixture of Sport and after finding Plebys track cleaning solution my 25 year old classic track!
4WD and coil springs!
