I don't think they were very successful but the Paradisa sets were great. Sadly my then girlfriend got all the Paradisa stuff, but there was a particularly cool lighthouse.

That's the one - excellent multi-coloured base plate. I think it's unique to that set?

My memory of it is a bit rose-tinted (like the bricks wink ) - I think the Creator lighthouse from a couple of years ago, 5770, is much better.

As in VIP only and not available in the high street? Surely they wouldn't sell as many?

Have they done that before with Star Wars stuff?

I know some of the movie items (e.g. the Sea Cow) were made available to VIPs first, and then in shops a month later.

I might need to sign up as a VIP if they are going to pull that stunt - problem is the local Toy Shop has a loyalty program so instant 10% off, and twice a year they have a 25% off sale, and I don't have to wait 2 weeks for it to be shipped from Europe.

I'd imagine they will be like the Ewok Village, start in LEGO stores then available through other stores a few months later.

They could ship it out to other stores straight away, but I doubt they would.

£250!

Also, this buying for investment. Are these newer kits really going to be in such short supply in the future? It's not like the early days of the Lego stuff and modulars, etc. A lot of the 'hard to find' stuff on the Lego store has been out for four years!

I wonder how many people bought the delorean as a "rare" kit - they're not exactly hard to find.

Me, I play and build the sets I have smile

More memories! Other than the dune buggy Technic model, I had all of those sets - though worryingly I had completely forgotten about the fire station and taxi sets until I saw those pics.
