having read pistonheads for years, it amused me to see the lego thread !

my interest as a child was always trains, through 70's to the 80's when they got their conductor rail and electricity.

Being a fastidious child, I kept instructions and boxes in fairly perfect condition and amazed a huge collection of the train gear, signals, points, station etc- the coverted 7740 electric passenger train set. Lots of the houses/vehicles

what I find amazing, I look on ebay now and then: are these things really worth the money people seem to want/sell them for ?

I can't help think I have a collection worth £1000's: it doesn't seem to make sense.

are the train items particularly collectable: they certainly seem to be ?

No, no - they're not worth anything - Where do you live, I'll relieve you of them smile

If you have photos or a list, I will post them on a LEGO forum I am on with a few train fans and try to get an idea of what they are worth for you.

What sort of child keeps boxes? That's a bit odd to say the least!

If I had of been like that I'd be loaded now. My dad always used to tell me to keep them. fk

Mine does. No idea why. I think he thinks they are part of the kit, so should be kept.

Every so often his mum bins them (at least that is what I tell him biggrin)

I keep all of my model boxes - even the Tamiya kits that i built years ago. All stored carefully in plastic storage containers......

All of my Lego boxes are retained as well as the boxes for my 1400 or so die-cast model cars. That's because the cars never come out of the boxes so they remain, virtually every one of them, mint & boxed!

My 8 year old son keeps all of his model boxes as well because a) It annoys swmbo immensely & b) because he knows that. Keep of all my boxes..

Boxes, Lego, model cars, motoring mags. Everywhere. Can't get the car into the garage because of the stuff stored in the garage!

Ooh, ooh, I'm all over that! SWMBO has already had many (very unsubtle) hints that she can get me one for my birthday in June.

How does one get onto said mailing list, russy....?

I know this way ruin lies, but I should ask the same question - I would be getting the Ghostbusters set anyway, and I'm sure it'll be useful to be on the list for future group buys. However unwise that statement may seem in the future, with the benefit of hindsight...

If you participated in the 42009 Group buy then you should already be on the list. If not and you want to be on it then please just drop me a PM.

As for the 21108. When I am allowed to officially advertise them I will bung out an email with a link so you can go ahead and place an pre-order.

Price, I'll see if I can knock off a couple quid for you chaps. But in fairness I think the demand for these products will see the price rise to well above RRP in the short term - so its not going to be a massive discount. Also if I can reduce the price I may restrict it to 1-2 pieces per person as I know buying to resell is ripe for any product which has a limited production.

Watch this space.

What's the retail price for them again?

Yikes.

Quite a few extra figures compared to the £34.99 Delorean though I guess.
