Don't often post in PH but bought some Lepin. My usual haunt may well ban discussion so I've popped in here.

I found quite a bit of Lepin and LeLe in Ukraine recently. Alot in Kiev and even out in the sticks of Slavutych.

Delivery can be slow, compared to buying from EU, but I've never had anything NOT come.

The UCS Falcon arrived yesterday. The box was smaller than expected as it was a cube. Very securely packaged, all wrapped in thick tape. Some of the bags had split open during transit but nothing too major. The instruction manual is folded 90 degrees in the box but again no panic, it's not the Lego version after all. Checked every part against the official Lego inventory. looks like 2 parts have substitutions, the turntable for the radar and some hinge plates (2x2 instead of 1x2). Roughly 12 small parts missing but easily obtained on Bricklink or Brickowl, cost me four pounds to get the ones I didn't have spares for. Build looks identical apart from the substitutions. Built up to step 40, you know you aren't building with proper lego but it's not far off. The pieces look very similar but the fit and feel just isn't quite 100%, but close. If anything it's a bit stiffer to assemble and 1 piece has already needed glue to hold it. Again nothing major for the price.

All in all, I'm most impressed

As reliable as Ebay!

More seriously I've not bought much from them but had no issues. They are akin to the Ebay "marketplace", ie traders so it's very much a mixed bag, some traders are awesome, others not so much and you have the additional "fun" of coming from a long way away with a different language.

Aliexpress does it's best though to make it "safe", they hold the money in escrow until you confirm delivery and then have another (14 days IIRC) to raise disputes with the seller.

I bought my two from "Dream House" with zero issues, very quick (less than a week) and utterly painless.

Another vote for 'Dream House'

I've bought three sets from them now, super quick and fantastic, almost hour by hour tracking.

My Disney Castle was shipped by Gelida on Wednesday, had a text from DHL this morning advising they expect to deliver on Monday, had to pay £4.32 in import fees.

Well my falcon turned up - I pre ordered in late August - and there was a lot of plastic bricks.

Didn't get to build for few days but then the wife was away for another 5 days. So perfect.

I'd always planned to time lapse build the Falcon as I had done with the SSD a month earlier, except this time a little different. Rather than seeing me build it piece by piece, I was going to be complexity out of shot and not appearing in any shots in fact so you would just see the Falcon slowly grow up from the table.

Well it's all done and the time lapses have come out quite nicely.

Links below

First is the 11 minute video so quite bit slower but you get to see a lot more as it's not flying by in such a blur. There is a little extra added to the end of this one.

Secondly is the light speed edition. Same video (well 95% of it), and but this one is only 55 seconds.

And for anyone who cares, here is the SSD time lapse with me in it, well mainly my torso and arms (and a tiny bit of my three kids)

And here's a pic of all my UCS (ish) builds together two Lepin ones in the middle with the RD's on either size

It doesn't like playing on phones for some reason. Something to do with copyright and my music of choice, hence the reason for the other videos being silent. If you can be bothered, try watching it on a computer/laptop as it seems to work fine then.

And yes Colchester indeed. Well a village between Mersea and the aforementioned.
