Voted Walrus,
because I would learn and practice many tecniques.
Looking forward to building whatever is voted for though.
I voted Lavochkin, but I'm getting a Walrus today (plus some monofillament fishing line and a OO scale crane kit!). Guess how mine's going to be displayed because I would learn and practice many tecniques.

If it ends up being another kit, no worries, I like the Walrus anyway! Looking forward to building a simple kit.
I was reading through the Warpaint book on the Walrus last night. It was a very interesting and important little aeroplane and served in many theatres of the war.
I really want to build a Walrus now.
My main problem is that I can't start until after the end of January
Here's one of the few remaining real ones (technically it's a Seagull V - but who cares)

A quick search on the Net reveals that the Revell Tempest is NOT the Heller/Airfix one. The reviews of the Revell one are not that complimentary. The Heller/Airfix one is quite nice but the best is probably the Academy edition - which is the most modern.
Mine was all right. Its not massively detailed, but it still looks half decent sitting on my shelf from half a meter away.Just wish I'd painted the invasion stripes on before I stuck the rockets on, .
Valuable lesson learnt there, .

I made the Matchbox one donkeys years ago, which was a bit basic but not bad - plus it gave you the option of a Centaurus powered version. It's a pity Revell haven't issued this Tempest rather than their own.

Picked up a Walrus this morning: At first glance, a very nice moulding considering its age, just as I remember it apart from it's in grey plastic rather than yellow and white of the Matchbox version (IIRC).
BUT...Revell have graded it as a Skill level 4 out of 5, and having looked at the model, I tend to agree. It will definitely need some form of makefshift jig to assemble the wings. Just something you should consider if you are a total novice.
Unfortunately no crane

Getting the wings lined up AND the engine mounted centrally between the wings could be tricky.
The engine and its mounts are assembled seperately, than just plonked onto the top of the fuselage. The model doesn't appear to replicate the marked longitudinal skew of the engine pod of the original. Probably a good job since it might look like it was built badly!Interestingly the wings are in top and bottom halves, so I thought of drilling them for the rigging wires, painting them seperately and then assembling them in stages, with the rigging wires secured within the wing sections.

That thought crossed my mind too. We'll just have to see how the poll goes though.
I really don't fancy tackling that Tempest.
