1/24 Fujimi Toyota Corolla AE86
Discussion
Rather than continue to take the good Dr's thread off-topic, I thought I'd make this one separate.
This model has reached a stage where I've sort of decided 'good enough'. I think I bit off more than I could chew when I first planned it, and I've done so many things for the first time with it that I could hardly expect them to turn out very well. Jack of all, master of none and all that. My next model will be a little more out of the box.
I've learnt:
1) Masking isn't as easy when painting with halfords paints from a spray can, rather than normal model paints through an airbrush.
2) 'Just quickly fixing that' is never a quick job, and often produces more problems than leaving it would have.
3) If putting a circuit in a model, measure and properly (securely!) fit it before completion - trying to adapt the model or the circuit afterwards is a pain in the ass.
4) All black makes for a rubbish interior, which never quite looks finished.
5) Trying to heavily modify the first few kits you build is a really bad idea. Stick to the instructions, even if the results aren't 'perfect'! (This came from the Ferrari F1 car I started, which in trying to get two of the larger body parts to fit perfectly, I accidentally shrank them! It wasn't far from being ready to paint and finish, either.)
Anyway, enough complaining - here are the pictures from my second fully completed model car, having converted from building robots and Warhammer before that.

Thanks all
I think I'm going to get my airbrush out for the painting on my next kit, get back into using it rather than spending £5~ a pop for Halfords spray cans. What would you recommend for varnish? I use citadel paints as my base colours, which come out very matte; will definitely need a gloss coat over the top.

I was amazingly pleased with Humbrol's Aerosol Matt Varnish, on that basis I bet their gloss is good too.
