After a few days wondering when the delivery from Wonderland models would appear, the lunchbox finally arrived. In a truly gigantic box considering it only had the car and remote inside ...

Commenced the build that night. Finished it the night after. And of course its got to be confirmed working for my son on christmas day.

Started it up in the lounge. Both myself (41) and housemate (34) were like big kids again. Wheelies across the lounge. Slides on laminate floor when turning the steering and dropping the throttle. Manic laughter and giggles from two supposedly grown up professionals.

Its a bloody fantastic bit of kit! Entertaining doesn't even begin to describe the experience.

One question though - I'm not intending to paint it the standard yellow, I'll give it a coat of primer (preferably a darker shade, maybe even matt black), and then let my lad choose a colour.

What I'm intending to do is use automotive paints - ie. a call into halfords after christmas day and let him decide.

Should be fine, shouldn't it? An automotive primer should key fine onto the plastic bodyshell, which will then happily take any auto paint thats thrown at it?

Ta for the heads up on the plastic primer - I've got a little time to get on a couple of base coats prior to wrapping it up for the big day.

That black really does work *very* well, although I was thinking of trying to steer him towards black while keeping the standard yellow wheels. Still, not my choice, will leave up to the young lad. Last time I asked him about his favourite colour on a car, he said "Grey, as it matches the colour of your hair daddy". Cheeky little so-and-so.
