Signed up for my first triathlon this morning - the London one in August. I blame you lot
Just need to learn how to swim and ride a bike now.
Congratulations. Just need to learn how to swim and ride a bike now.
Are you anywhere near Milton Keynes / Bletchley? I can recommend a Tri specific PT who does swim clinics. He has got me from not being able to do more than two lengths to swimming 400m in about 6:30, within the space of about 8 months.
I'm doing both the Dambuster duathlon and triathlon this year, so I'll have a dig around to see if I have the bike route.
Training starts today after a few days off. 10 weeks on Saturday....
Also doing the Cotswold Classic Half (or maybe Challenge Weymouth after enjoying Henley last year)

The Cotswold Classic Half is my race (i.e. organised by my Wife and I), so if you need any more info on it, just get in touch. Always good to have fellow PH'ers along

Not done the event before, just liked the idea of being able to do a duathlon then triathlon at the same venue. Looking to beat my first attempt at olympic distance which was 2:55. Should be able to do 2:40 I think. As for duathlon, dont really have a clue what time I am looking at. At least I know it will be a PB...Mike
The best I can find for the bike route is the following mapmyride route:

Thanks. I've not signed up yet, but it looks like a good option, and very well timed. The Cotswold Classic Half is my race (i.e. organised by my Wife and I), so if you need any more info on it, just get in touch. Always good to have fellow PH'ers along

I've done it twice (3rd time this year) & that looks about right for the bike route route. As a qualifying event for World & European champs they have a very fast field, I expect to trundle in at about 2.45 in the slowest 10% !The best I can find for the bike route is the following mapmyride route:

I noticed this when looking at last years results and to be honest it kind of concerns me in that l will be with you in the slowest 10% although it will be a great bench mark for future events. Have never come last in any event and l sense this could be the first if l am being realistic with myself not a defeatist.
Mike
Be nice to have some company I just consider it a training session & set my own goals, sub 2.45 & I will be a happy man regardless of position & yes i'm 90% sure the ripple is on the A6003 bit. First year I got up it with a 39-23 bottom gear with a fair bit of effort so should be a breeze this time with 39-27 !Mike

Has anyone done the half ironman distance race run by F3 events at Henley in June? It's on my radar as there is no time limit and it's a flat course.
Interested in people's opinion. I've done a sprint at eaton dorney at two london triathlons and I fancy cranking it up a notch.
I did this last year and as others have said I think you'll find its July not June.Interested in people's opinion. I've done a sprint at eaton dorney at two london triathlons and I fancy cranking it up a notch.
It's not flat either, the bike course that is, it's an out and back 2 and a half times and it's shy of 90 km as well. Worst thing about it was the pot holes and the shocking road conditions, you will lose bottles from cages unless you put Ali cages on and bend them to hold a bottle tight. The run is flat though, alongside the river.
Overall a good, well run event and timing was perfect for IM Wales if you followed the Fink plan.

Their website only has a standard and sprint distance listed? It's not flat either, the bike course that is, it's an out and back 2 and a half times and it's shy of 90 km as well. I agree with the state of the roads though. I did Challenge Henley and some sections were horrible.
