As I said before, no grit.
Why is that? Always a strong quality of Aus sport in general.

Sir Geoffrey needs to shut up. 'The Ashes are won, it's over'.

I'm sat at work with no phone signal, just asked the guy to look it up on his phone and nearly fell off my chair.

What's happened? Is the ball doing much?

1 in 150 year perfect storm.

As I said before, no grit or patience.
I salute you for sticking around. Think in your shoes my internet connection might be playing up.

Will wait until we have batted before commenting on the pitch.

The 'evolution' of aggressive batting, having 'moved the game on' from T20 etc - when actually a new ball on a green test wicket is a different proposition to the strips they prepare for T20 and 50 over games - which are more batsman friendly.

The upshot is you have to graft against a new ball seaming and swinging at 88+ mph. You need to leave and defend and knock the shine of the ball - especially when it is green seaming.

Hats of to England's bowlers and the slips cordon - you have to put the ball in the right place and catch the edges.

Broad is quite interesting - he has done this sort of thing in every recent series in England. He has a fairly unremarkable series - good to fair - but has always had a spell where he takes 5-6 in an innings. He did it at Durham last time and the Oval the tour before that.

Management at TB must be a bit clenched bumhole - two day tests are bloody expensive in refunds.

Right, given the way Test Cricket appears to be going, there will be intense dissapointment if we aren't into their tail by lunchtime.

Why wouldn't I? I am a cricket fan - a bit churlish to only post when things are going well etc.

Sadly, I can't go out there and have a bat myself.
