Novak Djokovic has over 60 posts on Insta this year and didn't get to the final of the Australian Open

Perhaps someone needs to tell him to focus less on Instagram and more on tennis........
At least Novak actually plays tennis.
Actually, he's pulled out of the Miami Open due to him wanting to balance his "private and professional schedule"

So, he basically can't be arsed and has better things to do in his private life.

Heathens. I'm sure you'll be straight on to his social media comments telling him to get his finger out because he's not focusing enough on tennis.....
24 grand slam wins quite rightly conveys a bit more leeway...
Right, so we're saying that 24 grand slam wins grants you the right to drop tournaments and prioritise private life over professional life but 1 grand slam win means that you have to play even when you're injured and delete your Instagram and all other commercial work?

scratchchin
If you're the #1 ranked player in the world you can pretty much do whatever the fk you like. But when your world ranking has recently tanked from 10 to 288 and if you still want to be taken seriously, the need to focus on the sport should be very clear.

Some people just seem to resent the success of others and enjoy putting the boot in when they falter.

That’s basically what’s going on here.

What makes you think she isn't focusing on the sport?

Has she been seen partying? Is she in the papers' daily, falling out of nightclubs? Has she been on holiday when she should be training?

Please, share this life of nonchalance that you are clearly privy to because I hardly hear about her these days, other than following her Instagram feed which only has 3 promoted pics on it this year......

Do you think that maybe, just maybe, the public expect too much?

That there's too much attention and pressure on a 21 year old?
That pressure doesn't seem to affect her ability to use that attention in cash in on it though and publicising it on instagram.

Maybe time away from those distractions and focussing on her health and tennis should be her priority.
Why would pressure affect her Instagram activity?

Do you seriously believe that she is sacrificing her tennis training/conditioning/performance and focusing on her Instagram, which has 17 posts on it in 2024 and is most likely run by one of her team?

Christ, you paint her out to be Katie Price.......
I was assuming she must have multiple videos and photos a day given the previous comments. Apparently it's about 1 every 4 days, laugh I doubt almost any pro sports person will have less than that, given their funding comes from sponsors.

It's not too surprising that she will get an injury pretty soon after such a long time out of the game, the issue often being your head remembers where you were before but your body isn't there so you pull something and hurt yourself.

As an example: "Attending a Dubai luxury hotel opening with Naomi Campbell just 48 hours before crashing out of event"

Although it is not unusual for players to attend sponsorship events before a tournament, in Ms Raducanu's case it is rare to attend an event in a separate country 48 hours before a match.

I think it's fairly clear where the real focus lies.

Precisely. He's earned it.

You just cannot have a valid conversation about Raducanu's poor performance and the reasons for it, with groupies or fanboys. It's like taking on the Swifties.
Classic!!

Man doesn't even try to hide his schadenfreude and then projects his own shortcomings onto others. Bingo.

Exactly. How dare she being young and rich and injured.

I wonder what the real reason for the irrational resentment is scratchchin

Isn’t she basically the Anna Kournikova of the 2020’s? One good career result and now the only reason she’s still relevant is she’s very attractive, she’s never going to get close to any meaningful ranking again because she doesn’t have to do the work to still maintain a mega income

In fairness to Raducanu, Kournikova never won a singles slam or even reached a final.

There are clearly question marks about Emma’s physical fitness, preparation, resilience etc. Apparently she doesn’t employ a full time strength & conditioning coach, which is unusual for someone who aspires to being a top player. She worked with Jez Green, who turned Andy Murray from a gangly schoolboy into a world class athlete for a while, but that didn’t work out for whatever reason.

Perhaps one benefit of withdrawing is that the wild cards will stop, and because of her low ranking she will be forced to enter qualifying for events - playing tennis, when she is finally fit, is what she needs to be doing. She’s perfectly good enough to get through, but desperately needs competitive court time.

Posting some Instagram ads while sitting in airports or hotels is neither here nor there.

100% agree, plus she needs a stable coaching situation.

That's not going to happen until she removes her parents from the coaching situation.

She needs to play matches to get match fit/sharp and on the other side lower her training intensity. She pulled out of valuable match time at the beginning of the year. This was a mistake then and is a mistake now.

I don’t think even Raducanu’s harshest critic would suggest that she look to anyone on this thread for tennis career advice……
