I dont really get that vid tbh, It goes against what id expect.
In general hitting a draw adds distance a fade gives more control. Im supprised that he recomends to hit a draw to get it to spin more.
I defo agree with the type of shot to play more people should.
Interesting though.
When you play a draw you are working the club from in to out, and it tends to be a shallower angle of attack. In general hitting a draw adds distance a fade gives more control. Im supprised that he recomends to hit a draw to get it to spin more.

When you come across the ball to play a fade you tend to come down on the ball from a steeper angle.
I think this is why they are saying that

I originally thought the chap was talking about chip shots in and around the green....rather than 50 yard shots...that's what i struggled with most when i first started out - hence the ball in the back of the stance, give the club some forward shaft lean which will keep the hands in front of the ball and should help him to stop thinning his shots
When chipping....strangely i find it easier to leave loft ON the club when i lean the shaft forward, use the bounce and keep the club face nice and open...I've never understood why people chip with a closed stance...
If I am "the chap" then yes, I was talking about whacking the ball through the green when positioned a few feet off the green. But the discussion about chipping in general has been interesting to read. When chipping....strangely i find it easier to leave loft ON the club when i lean the shaft forward, use the bounce and keep the club face nice and open...I've never understood why people chip with a closed stance...
To throw something else in to the mix, I've watched a video of someone using a hybrid to get the ball on to the green instead of a wedge.
7 iron - Putting stroke ftw
9/10 your worst putt will be as good or better than your best chip!

You'll be surprised how often I have to remind myself of that though - the urge to take a wedge is always strong for me.
Well, I managed to lose the knock-out cup final on Saturday
Lost 32 points to 35. Played very well apart from 4 holes (silly blobs). Anything within 80 yards I was deadly. Including the final hole - 180 yard par 3 and I was pin high but 10 yards to the right of the green. Very little green to work with (pin cut tight to the right hand side) and the green was 6' above the ball but managed to chip in for birdie! That levelled the score but unfortunately the other guy holed a 30 foot putt for par!
A good day though, enjoyable golf

Slow play is the absolute scourge of golf here.
First Men's Open of the season last weekend, 3 balls, in carts (which arguably slows down play imo), took us 3 hours to play the first 9 holes, 90% of the field are single figure handicappers.
Drives me fkING mad.

Has anyone had a decent hit of the Ping G25 driver or fairway woods? I'm looking to get fitted for a driver over the winter and maybe pick up a new 3-wood or 4-wood too.
Does anyone have any thoughts on these clubs? Has anyone compare it to the G30?
Just for reference I've only really started playing properly this year and have gone from high twenties to low twenties over the last few months. Plan is for mid teens by this time next year with low teens the year after.

I absolutely love the 3 wood and hybrid, so easy to hit it feels like I'm cheating!
Driver is a work in progress - I can hit some blinders followed by some howlers!! Although I'm sure this is me and not the club.
I'm very pleased with them all

If you don't mind me asking what hcp are you?
As a side note, I didn't realise that when calculating a handicap you are only 'allowed' to score a maximum of 2 over par on any one hole. I has assumed it was purely the average difference between your gross score and the SSS of the course. I imagine my hcp is probably 4-6 shots lower than I thought.
Officially I'm 17.3, but I seem to have had some poor results at my home club recently. As a side note, I didn't realise that when calculating a handicap you are only 'allowed' to score a maximum of 2 over par on any one hole. Although my home club is a pretty tough links course, a lot of people I speak to say you can take off 3 shots from my club handicap. Which actually works out right as when playing in my society I have actually played to 14 (I played off 16 last week and scored 32 points with 4 blobs).
The last comp I played at my home club I only scored 25 points - but I did blob 7 holes

Absent a specific local rule, I'd think temporary greens are to be treated like any other normal part of the course. Play the ball as it lies.
(up to you if you want to risk taking a huge divot!)
I agree, unless it's marked GUR or there is a local rule then give it a whack.(up to you if you want to risk taking a huge divot!)
Is the noise that bothers you, or the fact that the clubs knock together?

Personally I don't really mind the clubs knocking together and can't stand the thought of playing with head covers on my irons, just too much of a hassle.

It's more the damage caused by them knocking together than the noise. Once i get to single figures / cat 1 I'm treating myself to a nice set of blades - Titleist MB's or possibly mizunos...haven't decided yet & want to keep them as pristine as possible. BigMax do a similar cart bag:

RE Iron covers...I'm the same, can't stand them, think they look ridiculous and are a lot of hassle!
Also, you'll probably fancy some new ones after 3 or 4 years!

Go myself togged up for the winter season today.
Replaced my stolen FJ DryJoy suit with a lovely Galvin Green suit and bought a new pair of shoes - Footjoy DNA's in black.
Very comfortable. Very expensive. But I got a cracking deal
Let me know how you get on with the DNA's. They're top of my list to replace my 10 year old Dryjoys..Replaced my stolen FJ DryJoy suit with a lovely Galvin Green suit and bought a new pair of shoes - Footjoy DNA's in black.
