Foursomes is a tricky format to play well in, it's hard to (like you say) be consistent when you're not hitting every shot.
It's bloody good fun though, you really get the team spirit kicking in!!
Greensomes isn't allowed at our club, we're only ever allowed to play 2 balls at one time (so either singles or foursomes).

Fantastic stuff on the Hole in One for Mrs G. I came close a while ago, pitched a ft past & spun back and hit the pin, not sure how it didn't drop! She must have been chuffed!

I'm confused by this! With Greensomes each of the four players has a ball that they tee off with and then each pair choose the ball they want to continue with in alternate shot format. That's less balls in play than four ball better ball where each is playing their own ball. Or are you saying that when you play singles you can only play in a two ball?So that's either 2 single players, or a foursome.
The only exception to this is if there is an odd number turn up for a competition, in which case a three ball will go out last.
It's a very traditional club! Speed of play is the most important thing - no longer than 3.5 hours per round (closer to 3 is usual).
But, all of our competitions are drawn from a bag, so you never know who you're going to play with so very sociable in that respect. Mind you, there are 5 or 6 comps a year that you can choose your playing partner.
I love it!

I've just ordered a nice new set of grips....

That's my equipment change for the year sorted! (unless I get a new putter...)

Waiting to hear from my mate (the head pro at Hemsted Forest) who has ordered them for me. He's going to stick them on for me, has done me a good deal! Another local club wanted £143 to supply and fit 13 of the MCC plus 4's - I'm getting them done for a lot less than that!
What ones are you after?

Yeah, they're quite expensive (although you can get a set of 13 for around £70-£75 online).
I know you can get the standard MCC in orange and black, not sure about orange and white!

have you ever played golf before?
I reckon if you're a complete beginner and you went to a pro for 6 weeks it would be an excellent way to ensure you get off to a good start in the sport.
Just don't expect too much from yourself - you can play this game for a lifetime and not master it!

Anyone reshafted their own clubs before?
I managed to break one of my hybrids a couple of weeks back, so I've ordered a couple of project X shafts and all the bits I'll need and I'm gonna reshaft both of them.
They were a bit too flexy anyway, so I guess it's cheaper then buying new clubs.

Tore it up today, boys! Shot 82 (out in 38). 3 birdies. Played some lovely stuff on the front nine and putted beautifully.
Happy days!
Excellent stuff. Managed a pretty ropey 90 today, 30ish points. 9 pars all the rest were doubles or worse which was ridiculous, 8 temp greens didn't help matters! Weather was awful for the whole round too.. Probably a 2/3 club wind at times with constant rain. Was still good fun and just glad to be out playing! Happy days!
Temporary greens are terrible, you can't really pay any attention to your score with those!

Nicely done Rosscow!! Played today, weather was better than the forecast said which was good, although in all honesty the course shouldn't have been open, it was very soggy! Bit of a mixed bag on the scoring front, on the upside I got 4 birdies which is all good, but somehow only managed to convert that into 35pts!
If nothing else it proved a point, getting to single figures isn't about making the good shots better, it's all about getting rid of the bad ones!
Absolutely. It's about turning blobs into single points and single points into 2! 90% of the time, that'll be achieved by working on 100 yards and in. Including your chipping and putting! What do you play off now? What are you doing to get down to singles? If nothing else it proved a point, getting to single figures isn't about making the good shots better, it's all about getting rid of the bad ones!
Makes such a difference.

My putting and chipping has really seen my scores improve. Putted like a demon on Saturday - including holing 2 from off the green! Even my lag putting was within 3' every time.
Makes such a difference.
Great stuff. Putting really does make a huge difference. Something i've got on my long list to practice more!Makes such a difference.

AGM last night - I am now vice captain! Should be an interesting year!
Best wishes for a successful year, even more so for next.My old man skippered our place a few years back and, with all the events, away matches, committee meetings, etc, we hardly saw him for 12 months !
Cheers!
