Yep I'm going to! Heading out on friday back on monday. My mate is driving right now but i am toying with the idea of taking my gallardo. Anybody else driving down on friday? Stimmers are you taking you 360?
No mate - Eurostar this time. Drove down in my Audi S5 for the group game vs South Africa as there were 4 of us and its the only game i had forgot to book a flight/train for Doh, so i had to drive. It really is quite an easy trip actually. Can get up some pretty 'decent' speed on those Northern France Rd's
We saw 2 police cars with speed guns on the way home from SA game. I was doing around 95 and they didn't stop me - after being fined coming back from Le Mans last year I didn't want to push my luck.

I took my NSX down to north Paris for the SA game and vowed never to do it again. Every French car in Paris had at least one dent and noone seemed to obey the traffic laws.
OH dear, don't say that! Really don't want to come back all scratched up!

I wouldn't worry about the cars. I've driven the Vette three times to Paris so far and not had a bit of bother. The car parking has been underground and as long as you're handy on the horn it's no bother.

Last weekend we went for a few turns of the Arc De Triumphe on the Sunday morning and had a right blast.

I have my tickets! biggrin
BUT... no hotel room...
looks like a night of drink

Anyone else in Paris on Saturday with nowhere to go after the game but a bar? or know of any good all night drinking establishments in Paris?

Whatever you do, do not go to the Gentlemans entertainment venues in Paris near the Moulin Rouge after an all nighter. Notorious for ripping off unsuspecting tourists!

Several all-night bars around Gare du Nord should keep you entertained.

If you really need a place to kip, you could try a backpackers hostel. Two mates of mine are booked into one in central Paris. They are in a dorm and paying £15, it wont be great, but it really won't matter, win lose or draw you'll be getting in at 4 or 5 totaly hammered and pass out til 10 or 11, then get up, have some food, walk around and go home !!!

Might be all booked up now, but its an option

I got my tickets through this morning – bit close for comfort – but they are here!!! Woo hoooooo!!!

Going Friday to Monday – Hotel booked for Friday and Sunday night at CDG airport. Nothing for Saturday night left!

Melz – I’m driving down Friday from J7 M4 – 2pm tunnel crossing. In a BMW 525 – so nothing that fast! But I’ll join you for the run down if you want. What time you going down?

Melz - “OH dear, don't say that! Really don't want to come back all scratched up!” – If you park in a multi storey/ Underground car park you will be OK – Just check prices!!! We did this for a few of the group games in Paris.

Scott – I’m the same – No Hotel for Saturday night. Agreed about Gare du Nord – We left one morning after the SA game about 7am for Eurostar and there were still people drinking then.

I was wondering if there will other 24hr places with more people to drink nearer to the centre of town.

We got knights outfits as well!!!

Enjoy

Tom

If you didn't catch the update in the stickie at the top.....the transport strike has been extended another 24 hours. Paris has no trains, tubes or buses running. Fortunately we just need to walk from hotel to bar to Eiffel Tower, then stumble back 10 hours later.

We are on the 2 o'clock crossing - we are leaving plenty of time going at about 11am

We will be going to the Calias booze place straight away to stock up - so we could meet you off the tunnel, when you get out?

Where you staying? - We are at CDG airport - underground car park!! smile

I'll PM you my mobile

Worse comes to worst - walk it - or hire bike? - http://www.velib.paris.fr/

Do it!

These bikes have been heavily used during the strike days. The metro and RER may be running but the reports were that several lines were closed completely and others running but at 10% normal capacity. I'd just be prepared for using the hotel to get a taxi once you've not got any other options.

Looks like come Saturday the problems may not be too bad.
