Also enjoyed PN and TA.

http://www.cyclingnews.com/news/sergio-henao-taken... Henao been a bad boy or just altitude-induced physiological craziness?

Henao lives at altitude in Riogengro, Colombia. Sky says that they are looking into the physiological affects that has on the body. “We are commissioning independent scientific research to better understand the effects of prolonged periods at altitude after returning from sea level, specifically on altitude natives,” explains Brailsford.

I suppose the fact that Sky made the UCI aware of the anomolies is an interesting point, I wonder if better training methods, nutrition etc are now giving the colombians an advantage that tehy previously could not exploit? Both Nairo Quintana and his brother Dayer have been revelations in the last 12-18 months?

^^I'm sure that I heard somewhere the NQ used to ride up a sizeable mountain or the like to get to school form a very young age. he did this throughout his childhood smile

He certainly got off to a good start - perhaps that has helped hone his natural climbing ability..

I really like him expect big things from him.

I've also enjoyed both races but reckon the TA was the better of the two - it had a stronger field this year.

I wanted to see Froome vs contador, as Froome looked good in the tour of Oman..

I'm happy to see AC getting back on form too - I enjoy his attacking style!!

Oh dear, embarrassment for Sky. So the self-styled cleanest team in the world now harbours two riders who are suspended with suspicious values, but never mind, cos Brailsford said that we're entering a new era of clean cycling, and all we need to do is get rid of the last few dopers. rolleyes

I guess the test will be whether they sack the riders IF they are found to have cheated/doped. Surely Sky (and other teams of course) being open about their riders numbers is an improvement over past years?

What more can they do?

They've effectively suspended him (not to mention JLT) for a period whilst they test him, fair play to them I say.

I quite agree. A reading has come out that doesn't look right - so while they investigate it, they've pulled him. Seems perfectly fair - and reasonably proactive. Not sure too many other teams would do the same - yet they're still getting stick.

Well for one thing Sky should do ore background checks on the riders they sign, ask anyone in the British Pro cycling scene about JTL and you will get many comments about his performances before he signed for Sky. Very suspect to say the least and Heano had a long association with Santiago Botero, long before he signed for Sky too. Work that one out.

But if you take that approach 80% of the field get kaiboshed.

I am unsure what more exactly you want from them as far as they have done here? Nothing has been hidden, the rider has been suspended pending checks, the authorities have been informed, the media knows. Whatsmore its been done in such a way that actual scientific knowledge will be investigated and examined to the betterment of all involved. There is obviously a physiological black hole and this seems a *good* thing that there will be data produced to help fill in this black hole.

Im afraid I don't see a downside here. If there are dodgy drug results and the chap gets st-canned then its still a result for the good of the sport and some extra knowledge on drugs + altitude on blood work is gained.

Away from that, agree about the two races, both have been good. Wiggo approaching some form with 3rd in the TT, Cav looks to have got his sprint train working to a good standard early in the season and he has some speed. GT looked in good form before the crash.

It's going to be Cav on Sunday with the OPQS train now firing on all pistons. Petacchi sneaking in second again behind him.

I'm going with Sagan. He'll look to dump the other sprinters on the last climbs and then win the final sprint.

I agree that Cannondale will try to drop the other sprinters, but the rouleurs won't get dropped and some of them are canny enough to beat Sagan to the line.

Also, even if Cav gets dropped OPQS can TTT him back to the group.

I'm tipping Modolo.

Good stuff hehe

I meant to put money on Cav for a win.

I forgot. Can guarantee he'll bloody win it now...
