Revenge.

I dont care if its a base emotion. I dont care if its unEnglish. I dont care if its crass.

We managed to go through the hell years avoiding a 5-0 whitewash somehow. The when we finally had a decent team they humiliate us 5-0 as their own revenge for 2005. I hated hated hated the 2006/7 series for what happened. It was the ultimate sucker punch. Brutally humiliated in cold blooded revenge.

Well today marks the reply and my dear God what a beautiful brutal reply to that. It hasnt just been a fighting response, it hasnt been a scrapped defence of the Ashes won at home, it has been an absolute kicking. A steaming brutal rolling crusher of a series performance.

24 bloody years. Oh Hell Yes!

If the Aussies can't even bowl Sachin out, what hope have they got against Strauss and Cook ?
Tendulkar is a class act though. Strauss and Cook ain't. :-)
Sachin, overated. Cook is much the better bat.
Sure he is. Tell the aussies that wink;)
Cough, Cough.... biggrin

Well, that's the sweepstake at our club won by me too for a 3-1 prediction. With a few Aussies in the club, I shall enjoy extracting the tenners from them all. I might even buy them a drink with their money!

So, across the whole test series, the Aussie team in total managed a grand total of 3.43 runs scored for every one run scored by Alastair Cook....

And Cook only got to bat in 7 innings!

Cook takes the man of the series award. Have to say, even though he finishes with an astounding 127.66 average, I'd have given it to Anderson. Anyone could - all of our batsmen did - make runs against that Aussie attack. 2.4 wickets per innings, 24 at 26.04 in total. But "Scattergun" no more - Jimmy led the attack and usually plinked out the key men.

I think an email reply to our Sydney office will be in order this morning, it's bad form but feck it why not.

Think I'll reply to that one they sent me in the first Test, when Strauss was out 3rd ball and PoiderSiddle had just got a hat trick. That seems a lifetime away now.

This will be sweet.

Well done boys.

You definitely shouldn't point out that:

There have never been 3 Innings Defeats in the 130 year history of the Ashes

They are now ranked 5th in Test rankings

We were well thumped that's for sure, but weren't we 5th before the series started.

It does seem like the mixed nations side has climbed over Sri Lanka to now reside at No.3

Now to move on to the other thread.

Not bloody likely, you think we're going to let the biggest away Ashes victory go just like that?
