Mark Selby is a very gracious and decent man. I don’t like the way he plays, but he conducts himself extraordinarily well. As for Luca Brecel? Truly virtuoso performance and nerves of steel at the end. Congratulations!
Agree with the sentiments about Selby, very classy.
Thirded.

It certainly looked classy, although with a Romanian commentator talking over him here in our hotel in Bucharest (which happily had Eurosport), I have no real idea!

Sad he failed to complete the comeback at the end: I thought Brecel’s bottle was going with some of those misses…..but Selby wasn’t on his best form, and Brecel certainly deserves the title for his performances all through the tournament: well done!!

I remember Thorburn winning. I remember Alex Higgins winning his second. I remember going in to school bleary eyed after Taylor beat Davis on the black. Joe Johnson in 86.

This is up there with any of them.

Luca Brecel, World Champion.

Not sure. I thought it was Mark’s depression that affected her maybe.

Anyway, fantastic match and championship as a whole.

Very happy for Luca. I’ve also gained a new found respect for Selby this year.

Enjoyed that and yes Selby is not as bad as I thought. Pressure in last frame or two must be immense.

Delighted for Luca…the best snooker I’ve seen since trump was at his best 3 to 5 years ago. Selbys style isn’t to everyone’s taste, but I enjoy watching him when he plays someone with the opposite style, like in this final…I hope social media gives him a break, a decent guy and a great ambassador for snooker…

Totally agree. Nothing against Selby as a man(the way he plays snooker doesn't do much for me though). However I'm absolutely buzzing that Luca has won though for sure.

Delighted for Luca and for snooker in general. It's long overdue that a young player comes along and moves the game to the next level. I think Luca, and Si have done that this year with their very aggressive, brave shot selection. No sport should be dominated by men in their 40s, time for the next generation.

More than happy with that result, Si next year?

Yep, annoyed i will have to go up to bed when the wife does now.

I broke my colour bone 4 years back when the snooker was on, it made those first few boring weeks in bet alot easier.....

Great to see Brecel win it

The Mark Selby/Mark Allen semi was not as enthralling as the Brecel/Si semi final - and so to see him go on and win it was great, good for the game too

Elliot Slessor picking up the trophy and cash at Minnesota Fats, Glasgow at the weekends annual PMK Invitational Pro-Am.

Was a great weekend and a great final with only a one frame difference all the way to Elliot's 4-3 Win V Ben Woollaston.

All pics from the weekend are available here :-

What a complete mess, shakes the sport to the core.
