Yeah your swing is very Els like in terms of producing the power IMO.

You guys are both big hitters though, I was only pointing out that to BRMMA and I haven't changed my mind!

I agree BRMMA needs a 'go to' club to keep him on the short stuff. The advantage in being long is to know when to use it.

BRMMA,

Robert Rock has one of the finest swings on tour IMO smile
I learnt my game at the same range as Robert in Lichfield. Possible we had the same teaching pro back in our youths, although memory fails to recall his name! I think he bought it out a few years ago and its now his teaching academy.

That's interesting Steve, although I think looking at your swing in the past you're more Leadbetter/Faldo classic swing, where as Rock is very much MORAD/Geometric/Waite and Mayo nowadays.

How are you getting on with your knee? Have you played much this year?

Nope nothing. Not even on the range. Clubs are gathering dust in the bag in a corner of the lounge. frown
Knee almost gave way walking down an escalator on the tube the other day....so yeah, rather not put it through the stresses of a golf swing repetitively!

Really sorry to hear that Steve frown

I'm a cripple but just can't give golf up! Have had a 3 week break due to left ankle problems frown

Is there anything you can have done? Operation/new knee? Old boy at my club is 70 and plays 4 times a week with a new knee!

I wish there was a go to club in my bag but unfortunately i'm as prone to the push n fade with my shorter clubs (though obviously that doesn't put me as far in the rubbish)

My Current bag is:
Driver (TM RBZ 10.5) used to play an 8degree driver but moved up in loft for some more forgiveness
3-wood (TM RBZ2 16.5) i used to play a 16.5 but that would go around 280 so seemed like it wasn't worth it as the yardage gap to my driver was to small, new 3 wood goes about 265 when i hit it properly, it's also very usable off the fairway
2 Hybrid (TM RBZ2) i need to get the shaft cut down on this as it's quite long and makes it a little inconsistant for me off the fairway
4 Hybrid (TM RBZ) probably my favourite club, can get it 220-230 off the fairway and i just feel confident with it
5-PW (TM Tour Preffered MC with project X 6.5 shafts) love these when i'm on my game as they have nice feel, the middle irons are a little tough when not striking it well, the main reason i like them is they brought my height & spin numbers down loads which gave me more distance. GI clubs hit it far too high for me
52, 56 & 60 wedges by Mizuno
Putter - TaylorMade Est79, i'm crap at putting, i rarely practice it and have never had a lesson on it, will definitely need to address this when i play more

Rob definitely has a nice swing, watching him warm up by hitting a driver off the deck is pretty cool, shows how little deviation there is in his repetitions of his swing, very repeatable. they have some good coaches down there, i've had my tuition from Patrick Brady

Was told the only option for whats left is a full replacement, but NHS wouldn't sanction an operation until its totally and utterly gone....Im not in constant pain or unable to walk, so I am able to live with it with "lifestyle" changes. From my perspective, I don't really fancy years of debilitating pain accompanied with deterioration of the rest of my life, walking sticks etc, is worth a few rounds of golf a year!

Can put the money I save on lost balls into the Cerbera instead! Always a silver lining! wink

Yeah i think Rob bought it in 2011, I have my coaching from Patrick Bailey but there's a few there, i think it's Danny Taylor? who's one of the main ones

spent some time up there last night and it was in good condition, it's a shame they can't get the Darnford Moores course into a more playable state as it's pretty rubbish

Yes! It's a great project and I love catching up with it, very envious smile

BRMMA,

4 Hybrid (TM RBZ) probably my favourite club, can get it 220-230 off the fairway and i just feel confident with it

Perfect club to 'go to' then?

haha i guess it should be but the temptation is often too great to get the driver out, especially in practice rounds. I hear good golfers talk about "course management" and i see it a lot when i play matches and guys will have a very 'steady' game but score much better than me by playing the percentages

You just love spanking it don't ya? Let the big dog eat hehe

Golf is supposed to be fun so it's all good. You can't complain though as you clearly know where the big numbers are coming from smile

We haven't mentioned the US open here yet, - have you been watching the build up, evocative stuff hearing about how they took the course back to its pure 'Donald Ross' form - they removed 700 sprinklers, have no man made rough, weeds in bunkers as nature intended, flowers growing wherever they pop up etc?

Bubba says he's gonna lay back more and stay out of trouble, A/Scott's on form, Kuchar's strong, Mickleson's come 2nd six times, Rory's playing well, Jordan Speith? Dustin Johnson? Back to back's by Justin Rose?

Who's your money on then?

I only saw coverage during the tea interval of the cricket, but very much like the "return to nature" aspect of the course and about time they stopped fking around with the host course to make the best players in the world look like chumps.

Rant over!

Love to see Adam Scott come through again, but heart goes for Westwood or Poults....even though stupidly unlikely!

I want Mickelson to finally win it!

Although I'd love to see a UK win, Poulter if he gets hot with the putter smile.

Westwood over Poults for me. If for nothing more than I think Poults is a bit of a dick for his Tiger comment from a while back!

Never been a Westwood fan, and as massive a prat as Poults is, the 2012 Ryder Cup makes him a Legend IMO smile

Tough going at Pinehurst.

Kaymer looking strong and sharing the lead, Bubba meltdown on the longest hole, currently sitting 111th with 2 holes to play, Rory in contention, carded a one over 71, leaders at 2 under.

Mickleson under big big pressure to finally win this thing, solid first round of 70.

Can Watson bounce back from 7 off of the lead?

Really nice to see Paul Casey back in the mixer too. Great physical game, but seems to have lost his way over the last few years. :/
