Well we lost but losing like that is not a problem, another great performance by England.

Quick breather and here we go again.

Starting to feel a bit more positive about our other visitors this summer, hmm, well lets see.

Well we are off again. Early start today at the Rose Bowl, so should be no problems with getting a finish

England Batting

No Plunkett, No Broad. Wood and Willey come in.

Stiff competition for places can only be a good thing.

Blast it! Root gone. Did knock another 50 up though.

Indeed the prospect of Willey caught Wood is an enticing one.

Are we even going to get to the modest 300 mark today ?

Buttler pretty crucial here.

302 ao OTT by Hussain on SS. You would thought we had been bowled out for 100. Just a few months ago we would have thought that was a great score. It's a new young team. Let's see how we bowl.

It's probably not a bad score, however I'm surprised we chose to bat first.

Told you we were doomed. We're a lot better than we've been before the departure of Moores, but we're still young and at time a little naive. Still, and I hate to use this phrase, we're moving in the right direction.

Posting 300+ and losing, well I can kind of live with that. Should have been able to bat the 50 though.

Feels like we are still looking for a world class bowler for the ODI team. Need someone who can hold up an end, and keep the batsman down at 4 an over plus a couple of big wickets every innings. Think Malinga, Mourkel, Flintoff or Dernbach.

Honestly feels like we have made progress in building a side that plays a modern ODI style, No shame in losing to NZ they have a very effective ODI outfit, but we are at least competing with them.

Think we will win another one in this series.

As said already...I'll take being disappointed at scoring 300 every day of the week compared to the limp our way to 260-270 that was the old norm.

Certainly shows how much Cook and Moores had a negative impact on the ODI side. A change in approach and mindset on how to play the game, trusting in youth and actually picking players that play ODI is a huge step forward.

The batting is looking very good, just need some more work on the bowling front. Even NZ who are a great ODI side struggling to stem runs, and bowl teams out. Hopefully the bowlers we have picked now can learn their trade.

I havent been able to watch the matches (no SS) and been asleep for most of them as working nights, but as above, we are improving.

Morgan is also seeming to relish in his role, and its nice to see his run scoring is coming back. Our ODI side isnt a bad one, and with more experience, the results will start going our way more.

So glad that Cook isnt in this side. As a Test batsman yes, not many better on his day, but he was never really suited to ODI matches imo.
