I really don't like Silva, he messes around too much.
I am a huge fan of his, but I agree. He could have finished the fight 2 times. After the knee in R3, ofc, but also after the front kick to the face (the slow motion of that was devastating). I don't know what on earth he was doing, unless he was afraid to permanent damage to him. Decision was a bit ludicrous in my mind, but perhaps AS deserved it for not just ending it. Props to Bisping for absorbing that level of punishment though. Insane.

I think Bisping deserved the decision. Silva could have easily got the decision if he had been more active and agressive but he seems to want to spend more time messing about instead.Decision was a bit ludicrous in my mind, but perhaps AS deserved it for not just ending it. I don't know. He won the first two rounds on points, but I thought Anderson had the rest. Bisping didn't connect much after round two.Like the Diaz fight, the damage visible at the end said quite a lot. I think Bisping knows he physicaly got his ass kicked -- he more or less said it post fight.

It looks like bisping himself drew out the graph, blind through one eye from Dan Henderson's ko, and blind through the other from the beats Silva gave him. Bisping in Blue, i think the stats prove the decision was right

Watch the fight, and most will agree silva beat bisping's ass, BUT because of the (flawed) points scoring system, the correct decision was made by the judges.

There's a system!?!I didn't see the Bisping fight, a lad at work is convinced Bisping was out cold at one point, ref should have stopped it apparently but he was saved by the bell (which given there's no count doesn't make much sense) and given extra time to recover.
Bisping was on the radio yesterday responding to Frappacino's comments about the sport being in the olympics, I don't think there is any chance of that until they sort out properly how the sport is scored.
Having been knocking around an MMA gym for the past year and sparring a little (lightly) I've a new appreciation for how difficult it is to score the matches but the idea that a takedown is some sort of high scoring move but pulling guard or sweeping from guard and taking mount doesn't get you any points is proper daft. You shouldn't score it on aggression either, because it may well provide the excitement and entertainment but the idea that aggression somehow demonstrates superior talent is silly also.

Moral of the story: Throw shots in volume, regardless of quality or accuracy. Get beat up. Win. Bisping in Blue, i think the stats prove the decision was right

I guess the moral is land more strikes and you will win. To the letter of the law Bisping was the winner for me.
My take regarding the knockdown/knockout, I think the problem is (as I recall it, having not watched it again) that Bisping seemed to gesture to Herb Dean to give him is mouth guard back as Silva appeared to back off a little. At that point I thought that Dean moved towards the fighters and gestured/said something (I thought he said 'break' others have said he said 'fight') in any case Bisping looked away and dropped his guard. Silva saw his opportunity and launched his flying knee in that half second.
Bisping went down, and in the next second (or 2?) Dean didn't step in, the bell went, Silva didn't continue his assault. Silva then tried to pull a fast one and decided that he'd won the fight. I don't know if the ref can step in and stop a fight after the bell. But it looked to me that Bisping was certainly in trouble but not out cold. This pic/vid is just after the knee, doesn't look unconscious to me. Can't find a clip with sound at the moment.

Edit: Fred the reason Bisping had more time to recover was because of Silva's 'post-match show', he was told several times the fight wasn't over but was more interested in his perch on top of the cage than getting down and finishing the job.

Bisping for me all the way; on the night he was by far the better tactical fighter. Silva went in and did his thing. He is incredible to watch and pulls some crazy ass moves, but for the other 90% of the time he's stood there predictably waiting for the counter.
Bisping went in with a gameplan and stuck to it rigidly (well apart from the moment he stopped and pointed at his mouth guard of course!). As per previous posts, Jack Slack is your man to turn to at times like these (even if he does diplomatically sit on the fence in this article). He has also gone up in my estimation as he talks about the effectiveness of Silva's crescent kick which I mentioned a couple of weeks back .
Anyhow IMHO, if you look at the fight technically rather than as a flashy hand waving spectacle, you'll see why Bisping won; he stayed on top of his feet.
(Gif heavy) BISPING VERSUS SILVA: KNOCKOUT LOSS, DECISION WIN

I agree with Jack Slack that a rematch should be in the cards. For me, it was an unsatisfying fight on many levels. (Gif heavy) BISPING VERSUS SILVA: KNOCKOUT LOSS, DECISION WIN

MMA in the olympics? Can't see it happening. They'd have to remove a lot of things and wear lots of padding. It would pretty much become roman greco wrestling (which is already in there). They'd have to eliminate the risk of blood and cuts.

Holly was a total beast against Rousey. Great counter punching and movement. I'm not sure of the stats and haven't seen them stood next to each other but she looks huge in comparison. Can't see Tate being able to deal with her at all.
Meisha Tate is one of the most experienced women in mma and had it not been for Rhonda she'd have been a long time holder of the belt, she's well prepared and well schooled. I think she'll be much harder for Holly than Rhonda was. Holly Holmes bouts before Rhonda were not super convincing. I'd bet on her but not a lot.One thing is for sure, this weekends fights are going to be interesting if nothing else. I'm seriously contemplating putting some money down just in case.
