So Nate won? That's funny after the video smack talk. Nick was relatively restrained and Conor was just such a complete knob.

He doesn't have the Jits of Diaz and many others but he's no mug on the ground. His coach, John kav was one of the first black belts I ever rolled with and I have no doubt McGregor is well schooled in this area.
He simply underestimated Diaz stand up. Diaz was happy to keep it standing, looked less tired and hadn't been rocked. McGregor was blowing so shot a crap double then left his neck out passing to side. Easy sub for Diaz but failing a flash knock out from McGregor (the way he often finishes guys his weight) Diaz was winning the exchange standing.

In McGregor's defence, he was dignified in defeat.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4U18SW82tCQ
I'm not a fan of his. I don't like the way he talks pre fight but get how UFC seem to want their fighters to hype fights like its wwf with a load of made up drama and hate.

That made my day. All that rubbish spoken pre fight and gets put out in the 2nd round.
I hate the way he runs everyone down with absolutely no respect. Put him in a ring with someone that can throw and take a punch and he ends up losing to a guy that had less than 2 weeks to prepare.
Don't get me wrong, macgregor can fight, there is just no need for all the st talk beforehand. It just makes him look a dick when he loses.

Heart was pumping during that fight - on one hand wnated McGregor to lose for his trash talking, on the other hand didn't think Diaz could do it as initally McGregor looked the more aggresive and Diaz didn't look like he was hurting him.
The amount of advertising by the commentators was absolutley ridiculous though.

Trash talkers make money.
It's all about the money. Look at Ali, Mayweather, even Naseem Ahmed etc...
Some have/had the skills to back it up, but to be a global superstar, it's what they need to do.
If Conor had any sense, he'd have done what Mayweather did, be in a position to pick whoever he wants, fighters that suit his style of fighting.
Mayweather was happy keeping his winning streak going and making millions, his opponents were happy going home with their biggest paycheck.
Conor could/should have done that for a handful of fights, before deciding to take on stupid challenges like moving from 145 to 170.
If I was in a similar position, I'd do exactly the same.
Trash talking is the difference between earning afew million during a career, to earning a hundred million.
