Am I missing something or is the build up to this almost nonexistent?
I don't watch a lot of ITV (so they may be doing something I've not seen) but there's nothing anywhere apart from the occasional mention on BBC Radio about their R5 coverage.
I suspect that, apart from Rugby fans, this is likely to be a non event (in England) unless the England team do well and grab some headlines.

It's ok though because the extortionate ticket pricing means it will be a 'record breaking (financial) success' and the s in blazers will all pat themselves on the backs.....
Imagine what it could have done for the sport if there were slightly financial greed and just a tad more altruism? School ticket quotas, minimum numbers guaranteed to JUNIOR sections of rugby clubs and minis etc.
Shame but much like all these global events now, financial guarantees 'buy' the event which in turn rules out a lot of the above.

Had exactly the same conversation with the old man last night... I've seen more coverage of the national tiddlywinks championships than what seems to be reported on broadcast TV. What was telling in my view, was the paper review last night, all papers had RWC guides and pull-outs blazoned on the front page, but no mention from the Beeb on tomorrow's opening match.I don't watch a lot of ITV (so they may be doing something I've not seen) but there's nothing anywhere apart from the occasional mention on BBC Radio about their R5 coverage.

Really quite poor IMO...

I think this is mirrored by the fact that the Viagogo resale market is only selling tickets at face value. Practically no markup for an Opening Ceremony game. thought that this was an interesting/amusing article on the beeb

watch footage of Nadolo (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXkYNblaz8s) and the guy is just a freak (in a very very good way) and I really hope he gets starved of the ball against us

There is a real lack of interest so far, I can't find anyone who wants a spare ticket for the NZ vs Arg game on Sunday!Thought friends and family would be biting my hand off.
The face value is the thing that puts everyone off.
For those looking for a decent preview I heard on the radio earlier that 5live were doing one tonight at 8pm. They stated it's also on the red button on TV so presume there's a studio element to it.

I have 5 live on in the background when knocking about at home or driving and it has been trailed quite heavily. I wouldn't really expect BBC TV to do much as they don't really have a regular Rugby programme and they aren't carrying the games.http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/live/rugby-union/341408...
There are lots of people with spare tickets that they are struggling to fill.
a 2145 finish in SW London is all well and good if you live in the SE or are prepared for an overnight stay. But I wouldn't fancy driving down from Manchester, not having a pint and then fighting my way back to the car to drive home.
We do regular Rugby based events but almost completely withdrew due to complete overload - I know plenty of people who have had a lot of work pulled at the last minute and plenty of event organisers struggling to sell tables.

I sat down to put in my request through our club. Then I looked at the £56 ticket which I kept as a souvenir after watching England shred the All Blacks in 2012 and thought "fk that for a laugh, I'll watch it on TV"!Thought friends and family would be biting my hand off.

Of course, at that point, I'd not registered that the TV in question would be ITV, but even so, I'm not prepared to pay £2 a minute for an international...
I was also surprised at how little people seem to be aware of it. Fair enough, I wouldn't expect rugby fans to know the dates of the semi finals (which came up at a meeting last night with regards to scheduling an event), but to not even know that it's happening?????
