I suspect that essentially there is a difference between what the sport of boxing is actually about (hitting your opponent) and what a lot of part tiem fans want (people beating the fk out of eachother or at least trying to).
I think this hits the nail on the head. Of course the most exciting fights are where two guys are smacking st out of each other. Such genuine slugfests are relatively rare, however fights where one guy batters the other is not. If this is what casual boxing fans want then I suggest watching-Anthony Joshua
GGG (Golovkin)
Sergei Kovalev
Adonis Stevenson (now at a level where his KO rate will probably drop)
Lucas Matthysse (recently involved in an all-out slugfest)
Amir Khan is always exciting to watch. A bit nervy (for me) as there is always the possibility he will be knocked flat on his face.

This is exactly what made Nigel Benn so exciting.Khan although not as big a hitter as Benn is a better boxer than Benn. none the less as exciting imo as he seems to let his emotions get the better of him & gets to involved where its not always needed.

fkin hell!!! between this and the outpouring of racist bile on twitter directed at mayweather this whole fight has been a bit of an embarrassment.http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/othersports/boxin...
i had it down that the result was a little bit of wear and tear on manny and a give a lot of credit to mayweather for nullifying manny's game......
i was screaming at the telly for manny to do more but i'm wondering now if he genuinely couldn't pull the trigger more due to the injury.
the telegraph poll suggests that 70% of 200,000 people polled want to see a rematch with a fully fit manny.........here we go again.......

I can't for the life of me figure out why Manny would fight injured...just pull the plug!

Now if you believed in conspiracy theories you'd think they'd mapped this out...nice way to maximise a couple of pay days. Manny comes up with an injury, Floyd keeps his perfect record, everyone thinks it was a jip...here we go again for another couple hundred million!

i know mate, in fact if you can be arsed going back over the last 20 odd pages you'll find my post suggesting that they would find some way to get a second fight out of it....just too much money involved for there to be no shennannigans of some sortI can't for the life of me figure out why Manny would fight injured...just pull the plug!

.....oh, and on another note, is there any truth in the rumour that carl froch apparently fought in front of 80,000 fans at wembley?? i seem to recall someone mentioning it somewhere in all the build up to maypac but i'm not sure.................

unfortunately khan will be out in the cold i reckon. too much of a risk for floyd- imagine if khan beat him?? all the mega bucks from the manny rematch would disappear.

Also, if Sir Henry Cooper was tuning in from his celestial home, he might have been surprised to learn that partaking in a boxing event at Wembley Stadium was 'unprecedented'...

I'm not sure that would have happened, I guess there is a point of no return with these things and once P Diddy and the Kanye Wests' of this world have paid and are seated I think they want their money's worth. This is not Zaire!I'm not expert but I don't think you'll find a pro fighter or any other kind of pro sports person who isn't training and competing through some kind of injury, it's a bit of a poor do to complain and make excuses after the event, especially as it didn't seem to be hampering him too much, we've all seen people come out of boxing matches in much worse states. So he's had an operation - big deal - I'm gonna go out on a limb and say he won't get a rematch unless as some suggest it's Floyds 50th fight and he comes back out of retirement for, but I can't see that in the next 3 years by which time Manny will be well advised to be out the game and concentrating on his political career.
I think Floyd is going to give a chance to Broner and then retire, most likely for good.
