....after that tinkering with the formation, McLaren will accept that he can't shoehorn Lampard in and just treat him as back up for Gerrard.

Indeed. Nice to see new faces getting capped, but having said that he was poor today.

Personally I feel that he upsets the balance in the side and ties Gerrard (who I believe is a better attacking player) down.
I wouldn't actually boo him, I admit, but I do assume this is pretty much the reason he is getting boo-ed. Or to be more precise to let McLaren know that a fair percentage of fans feel that his selection is wrong.

How many goals Lampard scores for Chelsea is immaterial. As is whether he scores more than Gerrard. What matters is how the team performs with and without him. Not only do we seem to be a better team in terms of results, but we also play more exciting football to my eyes.

I do. If you don't why bother opening the thread. The title not explicit enough for you???
If you don't like football don't open football threads. It isn't, as they say, rocket science.
So put simply. F u c k O f f!

What annoyed me about McLaren's reaction on Wednesday night was that he didn't look that bothered. I get the impression that if the impossible chain of eventsthat is required doesn't pan out, he'll just shrug and blurt out the usual mouthful of clichés about it's a funny old game, we gave it 110%, etc.
You forgot it was a game of two halves.....biggrin
If Gerrard had ghosted in at the back stick we wouldn't be in this 'situation' (as Glenn would say).
