I have been dabbling a little lately with propane injection into a gas engine. I have seen this used in Vipers and other vehicles.

What I did was injecting propane into both intakes just before the plenum. The nozzles where just regular NOS 50 shot nozzles.

Initial results did not yield any additional power, but the cooling was phenomenal since it injects at -40F. Also propane can boost the octane level upwards 120-140. Naturally, I turned up the boost and thats when you get the difference. Right now I can run 20PSI+ boost on regular unleaded gas with room to spare without running lean. I cannot understand how the viper guys can benefit from this without turbos though.

Either way my car is also recieving a whole new "stronger" better bottom end before next years race season.

How 'legal' would this be in a race though.

Johan I had done alot of research on this when I was racing a nitrous motor in my old car.

Did you notice a big difference in low end torque? I frequent a local viper tuner here in D.C. all the time and there propane cars make a TON of torque over the regular nitroused cars.

The cooling, and octane boost is nice though

Good luck

Andy,

Well, I have made quite a few mistakes so far, but I am getting there. I am not feeling much low end torque though. somebody told me that I am not jetting the propane properly, but that could also be because I cannot make the tires stick to the road.

Johan - you are a loon..... propane injection!

The Extreme Esprit just gets more and more outrageous. What are you planning to compete in next year?

Johan,

You used to use alcohol injection, right? What kind of differences are you seeing between the alcohol injection and the propane injection?
