No info on prices ..just that tickets will be on sale on friday 7th feb on a 'limited' first come first serve
'Limited' until they find that the 'excluded' have already made other plans (Amsterdam for me).Goodwood events are two tier and exclusion from the inner sancta etc. on cost as opposed to class is still elitism.
As a tangential thought does any other PHer remember the F5000 season openers at Brands? Or come to think of it RoC - March motor racing needs to be approached in a Bear Grylls manner or you could end up with the St Johns overwhelmed!

I have some friends who are GRRC members. They are a bit un easy about this whole thing to say the least.
then don't go! leave it to us "plebs" to go in their place! If i get the email and its a sensible price i'll be booking tickets, may do this instead of the fos...

GRRC probably need to explain why tickets to an event arranged for members only are now to be on general sale. If they don't it is simply a "benefit of membership" that has been rendered worthless.James P said:

I agree...and they have now effectively broken the contract that this was an exclusive event for members when I bought my tickets over the Revival weekend. I wonder if members who already bought tickets will get entered into a draw to win a ride in a P1, or is that exclusively for non-members to be enticed to purchase tickets. You couldn't make this up....PF
The situation appears to be the GRRC members have not supported the event as anticipated and therefore the financial targets may not be met.
The next logical thing to do is to open it up to previous supporters of Goodwood events (I have been to every Revival)and try to win their support.
So many genuine motor racing fans that regularly attend motor racing throughout the season have given up on the Revival feeling squeezed out by corporate and the "once a year Sunday Times Brigade"
This Members Meeting(can they still call it that?) was marketed accordingly, making it clear with their right crowd/ no crowding message was excluding the likes of me as a non GRRC member. Now the situation is falling short, I am of course welcome to apply!
Thanks, but no thanks, I will be at the BTCC at Brands and pretty much every other HSCC/ Masters event I can get to.
As for the Revival, no sorry, I am out. For the same ticket money I can do Monaco Historique(3 days) with grandstand,Silverstone Classic(3 days),BH Superprix(2days),Wolds Trophy at Cadwell Park (2 days)Croft Nostalgia (2 days) and maybe Castle Combe Autumn Classic too!

When you put it like that, you see what's what. The next logical thing to do is to open it up to previous supporters of Goodwood events (I have been to every Revival)and try to win their support.

No doubt some members have written asing for an explanation. Be nice to see the replies7/11 said:

I would like to see the man maths backing up that statement. Thanks, but no thanks, I will be at the BTCC at Brands and pretty much every other HSCC/ Masters event I can get to.

I would have thought a logical extension to the original "GRRC membership only" would be to add those on the GRRC waiting list first (I think I heard that the list had ~5000 people on it)?
^ this. And also start charging to be on the waiting list. Glyndebourne have done this successfully and maintained the goodwill of keeping the arts alive too. Be interesting to see who was invited, as some of those above imply they are not even on the waiting list.btw, personally i'm not bothered so long as they're the right crowd, and given it's an open airfield in march they must be!
LM and the team have done an outstanding job over the last 15 years, we should celebrate that.

.... time to look at the ticketing/event T&Cs with regards to 'cancelling'.I'm in two minds about this...
On the one hand the invites went out to members back in september but nobody showed an interest so now they need the general public/riff raff/anyone on the mailing list to come along and pay for it all. I know a lot of local businessmen take up the membership (put it on expenses) just so they can entertain clients at the Kennels and don't really care about cars or motorsport. I think this is reflected in the poor uptake of members tickets. So on that note I want to say bks to Goodwood.
One the other hand though £120 for a ticket might keep it exclusive to those with a genuine interest not just those with deep pockets. I've noticed the FoS seems to attract a lot of locals with nothing better to do and they generally just get in the way!
If it's good it could be really good.
You can't really call something an exclusive members meeting when it's open to everyone!!
I'm intrigued to see if they turn away all those people who paid for a ticket but turned up without a tie/cravat.
Is it time the GRRC had a member cull?

I am pleased to have been invited to join the GRRC for 2014 - and signed up straight away. I have also signed up to participate in the March meeting - I'm really looking forward to it - I'm sure it will be a blast. However, I respectfully suggest to the club leadership that they keep the members aware of how the extension to the invite list is being handled, and how they are progressing on getting to the target numbers needed to make the event a financial as well as an overall success.
It isn't an 'invite list' any longer. The computer says Wayne and Waynetta have previously bought motorsport tickets from Goodwood, they get the auto generated 'special pre-public release invitation'. I am not on the GRRC waiting list, nor is my name Wayne, but my e-mail came through yesterday (although the actual ticket price is cunningly ommitted from the initial baited hook).
Methinks that the marketing strategy for this one has defeated the Chas March Midas touch at last.
