The weather for Sunday looks positively decent, just as long as they can secure the site from the battering it's going to take tomorrow. Particularly so as the wind looks relentless until after dark tomorrow, good luck to all the crew on site.
Also means the car parks will only be horribly muddy on Sunday, rather than a complete bog.

A very sad decision but the only correct one.
50mph winds will do a lot of damage and there are a lot of temporary structures that won’t be rated /insured for >50mph gusts.. You really don’t want to be hit by anything travelling at that sort of speed.
Very strange for all the staff as well as paying visitors. Bar Rosso at Butlin’s remained packed until closing time, and the Bognor McDonalds is going to be rammed for breakfast!
Hopefully there will be enough stands and cars left for a great day on Sunday…

Posted in another thread but this seems to be a bit more popular.
Gutted but when we got the first email I thought it was going to be cancelled. Thankfully I bought some Sunday tickets this morning off another PH member but friends arrived tonight from Ireland specifically for tomorrow. I wonder what the cancellation policy will cover and if there will be excess costs over tickets (camping etc) - I doubt it though.
It was not great at the end of today and with trees and temporary structures I would not be surprised if it was the liability insurance that did it.
Just hoping not too much damage is done and everything is open on Sunday as planned. Need to remember to put some extra pegs in the awning in the morning and book tickets for beaulieu!

One for the FOS, experts on here - how do they manage the runs to avoid collisions? Is the hill divided in to sections with rules in place to prevent two vehicles in the same section at the same time?
I put on the live feed whilst working on Friday and noticed the Ferrari 512 BB/LM rear end a pre-war car as it crossed the line, damaging the Ferrari's nose and giving the vintage car a good whack. I'd assumed the marshalling system would provide an equivalent of the yellow flags in F1, etc to alert a driver of a very slow or stopped vehicle on track in front of them?

Currently broken sunshine dry and breezy down here right now . I take it the weather is yet to come .
It could be calm and hot in an hour. There is a light breeze and unbroken sunshine at the moment. We could have a gale at 11. Weather near the coast can change very quickly.Unfortunately for the organisers, they had to make a call last night, when there was a yellow weather warning in place and predicted 50 mph plus gusts.

Worth remembering that trees in full leaf are more prone to being damaged than in the winter.

Just think of all those Saturday tickets that have been sold on.
Those that bought the tickets originally will be the ones offered the refund, not those that now have the tickets!
Yes, I thought about going today and swallowing the eBay tax. Lots of people did and ticket prices were up to 3 times face value. Ouch. Those that bought the tickets originally will be the ones offered the refund, not those that now have the tickets!

Just put the live stream on for a bit of a fix to keep me going until tomorrow, and they’re showing highlights from Thursday and Friday and are promising ‘a special treat’ later on - what do we think that’s going to be then?

Ouch indeed, especially as they won't even get a refund from Goodwood for the face value ... the sellers probably will.Gassing Station | Goodwood Events | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
