Interesting that Goodwood are still trying to sell tickets despite the great success of last year, however I half feel it is more the lack of information about what's going on than what the weather of March could bring.

It's also a shame that they are saying "Add the Hill trophy for E-Types, Cobras and GTOs" when there are no GTOs on the entry list???
Strange isn't it. I thought, following last year, word would have got out and it'd sell out.

It's very odd, everyone had mainly positive things to say about the event (and by the sounds of it the few issues people had have been rectified for next weekend) press reviews were very good and the racing was brilliant. But yet there's still a low uptake from members, now I know there are international members and members up north that may not want to make the journey due to having the revival as their "holiday" or maybe it's that no camping is provided?

I still believe from a media/advertising perspective they could do a lot better, for instance some people want to know a programme of events prior to booking tickets to choose which day they wish to attend, now I know there's an argument that people will not buy a programme but I think the majority of people will buy one (and last year didn't they sell out?)

Hello folks, Pablo from Goodwood here.

Thanks for highlighting the inconsistency on the Races page - it had not been updated since a few major announcements... Apologies.

It should now be up to date https://grrc.goodwood.com/members-meeting-73/races

Hope to see lots of you down here next weekend - the build is almost there and medium-term weather forecast looks good, so we are all very excited at the Circuit.

Fingers crossed the weather holds and the racing and experience is as good as last year.

Is Ferraris the correct wording? Whilst I know it's saying search for an image and this is what you'll see but to me that could be misleading as the list I have does not have any Ferraris on it for the hill trophy unless that's changed?

"Search for images of the Goodwood Circuit and you’ll soon be met with the sight of a Jaguar E-type, an AC Cobra or a Ferraris locked in battle."

I think the real problem could be more fundamental - ticket price.

£130 for a weekend is a huge amount and I wonder how much of that goes on subsidising the niceties that the majority of members couldn't care for.

For me, personally, I'd much rather cut the frivolities, lower the ticket price and make it a pure and simple historic race meet - difference being it would still attract big names and a cracking entry list. For those less interested in racing and more interested in dressing up and wandering around, there's always the revival?

I'm interested to hear your thoughts on it, but perhaps that's where (some of) the issue lies?

I live near Manchester and as a Member, cannot understand why it's not sold out as the distance is irrelevant to me - I haven't actually checked to see if there was camping like the Revival as I booked a B&B 12 months ago, guessing at the date, and there were very few to choose from in the immediate area!

I didn't give a toss frankly what racing was on (so didn't need to see a crystal ball programme) as I know that whatever is on, it will be excellent!

Still, I am genuinely disgusted at the low up take from Members, and would very much like to know just what the problem is...I can only imagine, that as an overnight stay is required, it's the lack of local accommodation.......If you are a Member and you are not going, then I would really appreciate it if you could enlighten me....

Hmm...never thought of that, you may have something there.....

...(not a member) but what he said... maybe the GRRC membership doesn't have as deep pockets as Goodwood (like to) think ??

Members meeting = £80 for a day

Fos =£140 for the FOUR days

Revival = Not my era.

It is a no brainer really....

I would say you get a lot more for your money than 4 days at FOS!! But the majority of it wouldn't be "your era"

My interest(era) is 70s onwards, I would say that much of the members meeting is my era. The revival is definitely pre 70s which is really not my cuppa.
I had a great weekend and a tan last year at the 72nd but I prefer to participate than watch.

I can't see any comparison between the race meetings and the FOS. The FOS is nice to wander round but it's not motor racing and that what interests me. I may pop along to the FOS every few years if I can blag a ticket but it's not my scene.

£120/£130 for the weekend is cracking value if you ask me. You get a solid 12+ hours of entertainment per day. Attendance at a premiership football match is at least £60 and a visit to the ballet or west end show is a similar amount. If you want historic racing without the frivolity there are numerous circuits around the UK where this is available. What Goodwood does fantastically well is the frivolous extras that add to the atmosphere and complement the fantastic racing. I think a camping option would help at the meeting. I for one always struggle with accommodation even though I book 12 mnths in advance. With the Saturday entertainment going on till late camping would be ideal. It is a shame that more members have not attended what I expect to be an amazing weekend. I have done my bit and will be bringing three guests. Can't wait!!

The less people that attend the better in my humble. The FOS was ruined once it became popular. The Revival has started to become ruined now it has become popular in the last decade or so. Hopefully we can have a few yrs of the MM being the ugly ginger stepchild.

How strictly is the dress code enforced, out of interest? The requirements on the site are pretty specific for men. I have no problem wearing trousers with a shirt and sweater, but technically that doesn't cut it apparently! I don't even own a cravat or polo necked sweater!
